Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As we were parked over at St Mary's Cathedral, we decided to visit Killarney National Park also as it was a fabulous day. We were able to sit in the Park and then also visited the Tea-rooms where we had an ice-cream. All proceeds of the tea-rooms was being donated to Down Syndrome Ireland.
There was so much space and thankfully not many people. I loved seeing the jaunting cars. A lovely time and space for all the family.

Came upon this area after a trip to the nearby playground, which is great for kids. Had a beautiful quiet walk in middle of busy season in the area with its flat paths and beautiful views of the lakes and meadows. Came upon this picture perfect cottage with outside tables on a sunny day and ended a lovely afternoon with coffee, cakes and icecream here looking out at the jarveys going past. Perfect watch spot. And plenty room for those with young kids to run around outside while you relax. Will definately return.

The Knockreer Estate has a variety of walking paths ranging in their length from 1km to 6km. The paths are well maintained with beautiful views of neighboring landscapes and mountains.
There are no restrooms nearby. The old lodge tea room does not open until April.

What a sweet little cottage this is, with the most exquisite thatched roof. After having a stroll around the park, my husband and I had a lovely coffee here ( they use Java) and a very tasty slice of apple tart and cream.
I think it is an excellent idea to provide employment opportunities for Downs syndrome sufferers and the experience they gain, hopefully, will encourage them to feel that they are a useful part of the community.

Just inside the gate to Killarney Nat'l Park and across the road from St. Mary's Cathedral, is this lovely thatched roof cottage, now used as a "Tea Room." From our table on the patio we watched the locals and their dogs, the jaunting carts and horses, and chatted with our fellow diners. The cottage is run as a training experience for developmentally challenge young women. The lunch was delicious and cooked to order: hot sandwiches and the soup of the day. The service is special as the young women are a bit tentative but want to know their customers are pleased. It was a memorable lunch.

Knockreer Estate inside the National Park is an authentic cottage with thatched rooftop. We were touring on the Jaunting cars and took a stop to walk around and take some photos.

This time around I chose the river walk which is about a 4.5 km walk at its longest. I saw a doe with her young and lots of other wildlife on the way. The walks are very relaxing. I finished off at the little charity coffee shop with a lovely cafe latte. All in all a wonderful morning.

While walking in Killarney National Park, we stopped off here for lunch. This cafe is run by Down Syndrome Ireland and provides employment for young Down Syndrome people, who waited on our table with efficiency and very pleasant manner. We enjoyed our toasties in the beautiful outdoor setting watching the jaunting cars against the backdrop of the cathedral and the trees in the park. Call in for an icecream after your walk.

The Tea Room is not a large space. I love this particular place because it's a great starting off place to sit and enjoy a nice cup of tea or at the end of a long day of walking through the park. My daughter and I love to come in September or October and enjoy a cup of hot tea outdoors both starting and at the end of a very long day of walking. There are always people about who love to talk and we enjoyed them as well. If you are looking for a "Tea Room" with fancy small sandwiches and such then this is not for you. If you like quaint places and no frills but great views while you sip your tea then this is it. I absolutely would make this part of my day.

The estate has some wonderful walk routes and its peaceful and quiet.
Don't go expecting to see a grand manor house... there is a house, but it's not something you can walk around its not the original which was on the estate.
