Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Graveyards are always fascinating... who was " Joe Bogs who lived so long/ so short a life?"
So, by their nature evocative and a friendly reminder of our own mortality.
Aghadoe church and the remains of the round tower " watch over " the final resting place of many of my relatives and a more beautiful final resting place you could not hope for! Quietly in the hills in Aghadoe, overlooking Lough LĂ©in and Ross Island ( with castle) all against he backdrop of " The Reeks" Ireland's tallest mountains, which by international standards , may be small but heir beauty outweighs their size! a wonderful, place of peace. I know I'll probably have the usual limitation of " when did you visit?" ....as if this were place to visit only once, even without my family being interred there!

The Cathedral is ruined 12th century. Beautiful site. Mortared onto the top of a portion of the south wall are an ogham stone and a sandstone block with an 18th century carving of the crucifixion. Stump of a round tower is nearby – part of Parkavonear Norman Castle 13th century. Aghadoe’s hilltop has sweeping views of Killarney, the lakes & Inisfallen Island. A nice stop. Open 24/7. No visitors when I was there. No facilties.

We stumbled on this on a backroad leading to our guesthouse on our first day. The tower itself is nothing special but the views from it are worth the stop and the short climb up the steps.

I almost didn't want to review this because I would love to keep this spot for my own for ever. It was so beautiful and serene. This site over looks Loch Leane. We were able to catch a glimpse of Ross Castle and a few islands. The church is in ruins but what is left is intriguing and has some great detail. There are fantastic iron grave markers and intricate designs on some of the stones. We spent about an hour here look at and reading the stones and just wandering around.
The main gate was chained and we entered in through a cattle gate so unless the main gate is open I did not see a way for wheel chair access. There were no facilities on site.
If cemeteries, ruins and history are your thing- come here.

Great cemetery if that’s your thing. Its mine love the history. But this cemetery has unspoilt views of Ross Castle and the mountains and lakes Opposite the hotel which is across the road from the cemetery is a viewing area and it’s incredible. Just phenomenal views. Must see. Old church in cemetery so whole place is interesting Viewing area is made for purpose and once again free parking beside hotel

This site is grand views of Killarney Lakes with picturesque grazing horses and several ruins to explore.
A castle remains, a tower, and a church ruins that shows historical architecture from pagan site to Romanesque church all inside the footprint of the original cathedral church 900's to 1050 c.
But the 365 degree views is amazing and beautiful photo opportunities galore.

If you are interested in visiting an old Irish cemetery, carve some time to visit the Aghadoe Church and Round Tower. We spent quite awhile browsing the grounds - there are a couple of main sections - the newer graves and the older sites. Some of the markers on the older graves have eroded away but are still striking. We enjoyed perusing the area.

We visited here on saturday. I had not been before. It was nice to walk around and take photos. It was very quiet when we were here, early morning.
