We visited after travelling through the Gap of Dunloe and then down black valley. There are a few viewing points, but this is a favourite tourist route so they are often full.

This road is not suitable for trucks or buses, so tends to be relatively quiet. That's a good thing, because it is only one lane wide in places, like most roads in the area

The drive is lovely but the road is at times narrow and the speed limits high! Drive safely... There are lots of places to stop for refreshments.

Twisting moutain road with superby views across lakes and mountains. Can be very busy and difficult if you meet a bus on wrong side of road!

This stretch of the Ring of Kerry is for steady, well experienced drivers ONLY! For driver and passengers, it's a heads-up white knuckle drive.

Wish it had not been raining that day we went through here, but it was still worth the drive! Such a cool road travel!

We came across this as a surprise! I had never driven through a tunnell like this. Whilst only small, they are attractive. Very interesting detail...and Old Kenmare Road is really pleasant to drive. Just do it slow..so much to see.

Took this road on the way to visit Molls Gap. Beautiful scenery, almost like a fairy tale. Road was narrow and a bit windy (not sure if I'd take a camper van along it) but incredible views, brings you up to Molls Gap and Ladies...More

This road is definitely open to cars they just prefer no cars go through so it's better to enter from the other side but you can absolutely take a car through there. It is a very neat and scenic drive. Not busy as most... More

I hiked the old kenmare road Sunday last ...no way can you drive this route! The N71 road to kenmare from killarney is the main driving route, the old kenmare road is a totally different route 😀
