This is the tallest High Cross in Ireland with remarkably detailed images which are explained on accompanying panels. It is off the beaten track, but well worth finding.

This is a great experience finding your way along the winding roads and beautiful rolling hills of Kildare to get to Moone. It really is a joy to behold - so much detail. Even though it's great that they have moved the cross into the church and given it some protection - it would be nice to have a better... More

We had a hard time finding this site, but glad we kept searching. We parked right on the road, said hello to the horses nearby, then climbed through the stone "gate" and walked down the short path to the monastery ruins and the 10th century Moone High Cross. The carvings on the cross are beautiful, and well-preserved. There are signs... More

You may have a hard time finding this site, but if you are a history buff, the reward is worth the search. A lot of effort has been expended to restore and protect these ruins, and to provide good information on site. For me, it was very cool to go through the arched doorway, down the bumpy path, past the... More

Beautifully located beside an old graveyard the High Moone Cross gives you goose pimples at first sight. You really can feel the history of this cross by touching it.

If you have the time to wander off road and find this little gem it is well worth the visit...it takes only a few minutes to get to it...parking is poor and path is a bit rough but the display is well though out and interesting

As with some other reviewers, it took a bit of searching for us to locate the site. The cross is well-restored and the information boards at the exhibit are well done. Some interesting old headstones are located next to ruins.

Tucked away in the middle of nowhere but that's its appeal and the solitude can be a great bonus. The high cross Inn down the road is an added bonus as well.

The Moone High Cross can be a bit difficult to find. The GPS coordinates of N52.97879, W6.82468 should get you there. The opening into this space is just a crack in a wall, and there's room for only 2-3 cars to park. Having said that, it was well worth making the trek out to. The cross itself is a fantastic...
