Well preserved and fascinating insight into the area and building. A cat was an unofficial tour guide while there and actually guided us from point to point on the tour insight. If you see the little black cat just follow him around for the tour!

Visited here with two adults and two kids. 7 and 11. Cheap price to go up the round tower. Stairs are steep and care must be taken with kids both going up and down. Great views from the top. Well worth a visit. Staff very friendly on the day we even purchased certs for the kids to show the completed... More

The cathedral and surroundings are breathtaking. I climbed the tower, it gives you great views across the city. The person who sold the tickets said that Cromwell sat at the top of the tower to watch his army enter Kilkenny. The gift shop has some really nice prints of the cathedral too.

Sunday visit, having to pay into a protestant cathedral is a bit cheeky. Then not being allowed to enter until 1400 when church service finished at 1300 is a real shame. Tower looks lovely but you must purchase a ticket inside the cathedral which you arent allowed enter....loss of revenue. Loads of people arrived to be met with disappointment and... More

A splendid walk through 1000 + years of history. There is a small fee to tour the Cathedral which is well worth it. Also, there is a small fee if you choose to go up the 100 foot tower where the priests used to hide the valuables etc. during periods of Viking raids....amazing

Quite amazing to delve into the history of this cathedral, a lot of work is being undertaken to continue restoration. It's certainly worth a visit, Kilkenny has so much to offer the visitor. I would suggest taking the official tour as there's so much to the history of this cathedral and its place in history.

We climbed the round tower for a fantastic view of Kilkenny and visited the beautiful church. A bonus was that we were in time for a rare presentation by a church bell ringer and we were able to see a demonstration of the bells and climbed inside the bell tower. An unforgettable experience if you have the opportunity.

Great views but you need to be fit. Going up is not too bad but coming back down the steps are very twisty and steep.
