A very pleasant walkable but hilly town many interesting shops restaurants places of interest some good book shops. An excellent and very central hotel. The Wyatt hotel was comfortable we had a quiet well appointed ground floor room hotel staff were friendly and helpful many restaurants to choose from in and beyond the hotel. Food was excellent parking was problematic we enjoyed our stay there was always something to do. A very enjoyable few days and prices were reasonable

This is a very picturesque square with the nice and colourful facades, and St. Patrick's statue. The highlight of the town, for sure.

Westport town is very attractive with its tree lined streets and floral flower boxes above all the shops and pubs. Then the river banks are similarly attractive. You can’t miss the statue of St. Patrick which stands in the Market Place as you loop around the town. Don’t miss a visit to the tourist office where the very helpful staff can furnish you with all kinds of information. One of Ireland’s most attractive towns, also on the rail and bus lines.

Can be seen from everywhere once you get into town. Its in the middle of the town and has some benches around it to sit on if needed.

The very large statue sits in the middle of a busy roundabout in the town centre. There are several streets radiating off the area where there are lots of cafes and restaurants.

This statue is in the middle of a round about and fun to see. No fees involved. It is free. The area is right around all the shops.

We recently visited Westport for a couple of hours during a coach trip to the area. When asking a shop assistant if there was anywhere she could recommend for lunch she advised us to walk to to 'The Octagon' where the statue of St. Patrick is located and we would find a number of restaurants, cafes and pubs in the immediate surrounding area.

The statue was easy to find as it towers above everything in its immediate vicinity. I didn't get too close to it but I'm sure that it depicts St. Patrick casting out all the snakes from Ireland.

If you’re in Westport head for the Octagon! Shops, pubs, small hotels and restaraunts all around. Some of the pubs have outdoor seating, great for people watching or taking in the Irish sunshine.

To clarify the statue is a focal point in the town of Westport, it is not at Croagh PTrick ( where you to the steep walk up the mountain). It is an imposing statue surrounded by shops. You can't miss it! Westport is a pleasant to to visit and they have a good variety of shops and restaurants (including for vegetarians). enjoy!

It is a good focal point to the town. The words on the large pedestal are thought provoking and worth a read. There were some stalls at the foot the day I was there. I would not go specially but worth a look.
