We only walked a small part of the park but it is beautiful in its isolation. The newly built visitors’ center has a great exhibit, videos and hands on exhibits for kids. There are many brochures, maps, information on birds and vegetation. There are also...More

Stumbled upon this visitor centre while on a drive about with my daughter. Regretfully it was after 5 pm when we arrived. The cafe was closed but the welcome we received from the guide Fintan belied the fact that it was almost closing time. He...More

Its free so don't complain. The interactive area is interesting. We failed to guess most of the sounds of bird, animals etc. The turf making and old style life videos etc were all very interesting. The staff were very helpful and the cafe great for...More

This is more information desk than visitor Centre at the moment but the staff are super helpful & enthusiastic with lots of great tips on where to access local walks, hiking and camping guidance and info on dark skies. It seems the Centre is quite...More

A bit disappointed with this National Park. The walk is short and not a lot to see along the way. Much nicer walks available in the area. I wouldn’t go too far out of my way to visit this site

Maybe it's the time of year we visited, maybe it's where our interests lie, maybe we had already seen too many things we loved more in the country... at any rate, this was a pretty big disappointment. It's mostly bog. The drive away from it...More

Serendipity brought us to an unplanned drop-in at the visitor center, where very helpful and informative staff and well organized exhibits enticed us to explore the local trails and gorgeous views of the surrounding area. This facility definitely deserves a planned visit!

We visited Ballycroy National Park quite by accident but we were delighted with our find!!. The drive from Mullrany to the visitor center is one of the most scenic drives I've been on. The visitor center is very modern and the staff are extremely helpful...More

The Park visitors centre is modern and very good with an excellent cafe. The staff are friendly and informative as are the displays contained therein. We visited here hoping to learn and see a lot about "peat bogs" and whilst the centre was good, the...More

The Ballycroy National Park is a beautiful and natural region of County Mayo. The last 15,000 hectares of untouched black peat bog. The visitors center has beautiful views of the local bay, a cafe, maps of the area and history of the local area. Nearby...More

My understanding is, as noted by others, that dogs on leash are fine. No signs saying otherwise. Also, we met a village dog named "Fluffy" on the walk - by himself. An employee at the visitor's center says that Fluffy lives... More

Yes, as it's just off the main road, there is no access gate as such to pass through, which makes it all the wilder & more interesting! Enjoy!
