It is certainly worth the drive to walk through these amazing passage tombs/cairns on the top of a ridge overlooking the valley. I followed the GPS on my smartphone which took us to the first shut gate. While we parked there and enjoyed the mile...More

Tricky enough to find , turn in castlebaldwin and follow brown signs. Last left turn is well hidden. A gate on the road to the little car park can be opened but must be secured again as there are lots of sheep on the mountains....More

About a 2km hike from the parking area. Bring hiking boots. Just follow the signs from Castlebaldwin.

Carrowkeel megalithic cemetery isn’t the easiest place to access but you’ll be so happy you made the effort. The passage tombs dating from 3400BC are impressive and the views amazing. Wear your hiking boots and dress for the Irish weather.

when you arrive at a round place with warning indications you have to stop following the road and go up the hill on your right. The tumbs are hidden from you and there is no road to lead you to them :D

It depends. It takes at least 1,5 hours to walk up, do a quick tour of the graves and come back. Is very windy at the top, can be muddy if it rained the day before (which happens pretty much all the time). If you have kids... More
