We were riding alone in the countryside and spotted what looked like a castle in the distance. As we got closer, the Abby came into view and we saw that there was a car park alongside the road. We parked and then followed the path over the creek to the remains of the Abbey. We walked the quiet grounds and... More

A great day for someone going on a day trip alone, with a friend, or with family. The ruins are a unique way to see the past without any restrictions. There is lots of space for children to enjoy the outdoors in a safe environment. The viewpoint also gives some great views of the area. The walkways around the Abbey... More

Fairy trees, abbey, church and graveyard. Split across the road, fabulous site with a lot to see and an interesting history.

The abbey is gorgeous and the area of Fore is very picturesque, they have also made a new walkway around through the forest that brings you out at the abbey. A really nice day out.

The Fore Abbey was recommended to us by our hosts at Ross Castle and they were the perfect place to visit on our way back to Dublin. The ruins are open and wonderful to walk around in, as is the church and graveyard.

This place is a hidden gem. Visited here on the way up to Kilronan Castle Hotel. Popping over the hill, this beautiful place just takes your breath away . We were the only ones here. It was great !

The village of Fore is home to a unique collection of ecclesiastical ruins and is very well maintained. Very tranquil on a pleasant September day. There is some walking involved but you can do it in an unrushed way!!

A beautiful place to absorb some history, shame that there are no facilities followed the sign to public toilets only to find them locked!

Ireland is so packed with beauty and history, and this is another example of that combination. A good sized parking lot has a large board giving some of the story of the Abbey and it pays to take a little time to read that as there are no other explanations/guides, etc. to the site. There is no charge for parking/admission... More
