With lockdown it is a great place to walk. Firstly the car park. If you are a Hillingdon resident you can get a Hillingdon First card. If you have one you can use the main car park which is straight ahead. You have to use your card and it is free. Non-residents cannot use this car park. There are meter men checking frequently every day. The reason is that residents were not able to use the Lido due too many non-residents travel in from all over London. There is another car park to the left at the roundabout.v the first part is for Waters Edge patrons and is free for them..The rest of the car park is free for residents with their card. However, non-residents have to pay. The Lido is actually a huge area. Not just the beach and the path around the Lido. Can I recommend the area to the right which is called Poors Fields. It is a Area of Science Special Interest and is protected. Therefore when trees or branches fall they are left to rot. When you enter the field it is pasture and Harrow School often leave their cattle hers to graze in the summer. If you follow the path you can go all over the woods to the right or continue to the pond. There are lots of paths to follow. Be brave and explore. The other woods to the right of the Lido can be entered from the entrance at the end of the wall before you turn left to the beach. There is another entrance next to the railway ticket office. Be warned this area of the wood is often very muddy. These woods can be entered from Broadwood Avenue. The area to the right is vast with many paths. To the left at the end is a pony ride school.

Would not recommend. The park itself is poorly maintained - litter everywhere, poor (and expensive!) parking machines (still only take coins in this day and age!) and the water is awfully murky - not great for dogs to swim. I will not be visiting again.

Ruislip Lido used to be a great place to go and walk your dog around the reservoir (I’ve been going here since I was a child back in the 70s) but now that the money-grabbers at Hillingdon council have introduced a £5 parking charge for anyone hoping to use the car park who is not a Hillingdon resident, it’s not somewhere I will now bother going. The parking ticket machines don’t accept cards, there’s no parking app to use for your smartphone, so you have to have £5 in change with you in order to park for even just an hour’s walk. They have also stopped any parking along the local roads. There was no mention that they’d closed off the path at the beach area (and any access to the beach) so you couldn’t actually walk all the way around the reservoir anyway, so once you’d walked all the way there, you were forced to either walk back the way you’d come or spend £2.50 to take the little train back. The train was the only saving grace to this morning out and was a very pleasant 10 minutes but I won’t be going again. Bad decision, Hillingdon council - it’s all about money now, forget people’s well-being.

Beach closed, virtually all playground closed and expected to pay £5 to park for a couple of hours in the evening with nowhere else to park! A real shame the council have decided to make money out of people wanting to enjoy nature and take exercise - clearly they don’t have a healthy lifestyle policy!
