OMG this castle is straight out of your dreams, the feel is real BIG strong beams hold up the ceiling, thick stone walls protect you, the views are stunning from inside the rooms, the bar in an old stable so rustic, the tack room converted for buffet or spit roast, reception area grandiose high ceiling, clever glass curtain & doors... I was impressed that entry via the shop was free. A large herd of seer in the park too. Interesting tree collection from around the globe. Cafe was also open and was well patronised but we did not use it. Being interested in history a point of interest were the musket ball holes in the wall of the entrance gate... More

We went in April and were lucky with the weather, the sun was shining and we had an enjoyable walk around the castle grounds, on this occasion we did not visit the castle as we had a pushchair and baby with us. The cafe is excellent and we enjoyed afternoon tea in the sunshine. Offers concessions for members of the... More

What a lovely place. I would recommend the house tour, Pat the guide is really enthusiastic, knowledgeable and the 90 minute tour flew by. Really interesting learning about the castle and the family history. Would highly recommend a visit, don't miss the coffee shop!

Our Air B and B host gave my sister and I complimentary tickets for the Sunday having visited Harrogate Country Living Christmas Fair on the Saturday. Some stalls were duplicated and it was good to see their wares again. Busy but not too busy to see each stall. The terrace with view to the river was full but would have... More

Visited Ripley today to the Christmas Fair at the castle. Fabulous venue with lots of items to purchase. Tried a lot of new flavours of chutney, spices, gin, sloe gin and almonds covered in chocolate and dipped in a spice powder. A lovely day with the family before going onto Harrogate for tea. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

On arrival by car we were directed by the very organised staff into allocated parking spaces. I had been invited to the fayre by a friend and was looking forward to a leisurely walk round whilst getting into the Christmas spirit. Unfortunately the venue was packed, we spent an hour in the venue before coming out. I felt sorry for... More

A well organised fair with some high quality stalls. Quite a few similar outlets - lots of wool&tweed but some excellent and unusual goods on sale. It was extremely busy but not unpleasant. I would like to go back and visit the castle and grounds without the fair as it looked lovely.

We had free tickets for the Christmas fair at Ripley castle. I might have thought twice about paying (see other comments on trip advisor) It was fair enough. Lots of high quality and niche stalls. At the same time it is what these things always are - places for small largely rural businesses to sell stuff - food, drink, warm... More

I know Ripley Castle is only the venue for this Christmas Fayre however I think the owners should seriously play a more major role in the choice of companies that are allowed to sell their products there. I wished I had taken heed of the very negative comments made on trip advisors more seriously. There was very little Christmas cheer... More
