Popped in to see a bit of history and left with a fantastic smell as we left...probably should explain that. Here you will find a detailed collection of local history collections and while we visited they had an Egypian collection from local collector. Very intereting to see what he had aquired and the range was unexpected. We then took the... More

Interesting history of the sulphur well and Harrogate as a resort spa town but only managed to string the visit out to about 40 minutes. The staff were friendly and the building warm and well maintained. The basement tours were only on 3x a day and we had missed the morning tour and it was 2.5 hours until the next... More

We spent about a hour looking around the museum. We had a tour of the sulphur well by a lovely man. You learn a lot about what made Harrogate what it is today.

Set in a beautiful and historic building the 'waters' which made Harrigate famous are still here today ....although no one drinks the spa waters any more!! Nice little museum, which contains the history of Harrogate and a few surprise exhibits. You have to come here if you are in town.

A rather eclectic collection of stuff which will keep you interested for maybe half an hour. When we were there they had a special exhibition of costumes used in Jane Austen productions, so I expect that other temporary displays will happen in the future. We were lucky enough to arrive at the right time to be taken downstairs to see... More

Loved this museum and the highlight of having a trip down to see the stinking well, love the social history attached to this place and we use the soap sold in the gift shop.

Took advantage of the special offer after Xmas of £1 entrance fee. Interesting enough and worth visiting but don't expect too much. We spent 30 minutes in total which was sufficient to see everything.

Not a huge museum but had very nice displays. There was a music/poem recital on when I visited which gave it a lovely atmosphere. Very helpful staff.

The lady did not just tell us about the pump room, but why the wells sprung up all over Harrogate and the general history of the town - it was fab, and as we had just attended the Knitting and Sewing Show, the historical costumes on display was a bonus.

I think that this Pump room museum is one of Harrogate's hidden gems, it is a truly wonderful experience and well worth a visit. We qualified for a concession on our visit as we are over 65. I think we paid £2.90 each, and every penny was well spent. Period costumes are on display, plenty of exhibits well documented certainly... More
