We went to try the new bouldering facility.
It's excellent!

It's my first go at bouldering so I'm a real novice. (I did wall climbing briefly many years ago)

The instruction was relaxed & informative.
It is indoors, very clean & a wide range of climbs to challenge pretty much every level of skill.
They tell me that they change the complete course every 5 weeks, so there should be an ongoing challenge to keep climbers interested.

The outdoor climb frame is big. I've climbed at Go Ape & theirs is a pretty even skill level & is something I still visit regularly. However, this park has about 5 levels of skill so it should offer a good challenge to most people. (I had a go at this in August 2024)

The cafe is really nice - very clean & comfortable.
If you don't want to climb yourself (maybe you've brought other family members or just want somewhere different for a coffee, tea or beer), it's a very pleasant experience.

If you're recently retired & looking for something to keep the mind & body working, this could be worth considering, especially as it seems quiet during the day. I can imagine the after work time slots as being quite busy.

As best as I can tell, climbing/bouldering is a "slow strength" enterprise rather than the pounding of treadmills & roads. It also has a mental aspect to it, as every climb requires to you plan where to put your hands & feet - the instructor kept referring to it as a "puzzle" & I can see how that is an appropriate description.

So the big question: would I go back?
The answer is "yes"; I'm planning a visit next week & I can imagine making this a regular thing.

Great for those participating, very safe, really challenging, way better than any go ape. Brilliant staff.
Facilities are not up to scratch yet, needs a cafe, needs proper shelter from the elements, needs WiFi, better seating etc.
This is the best climbing set up we have ever experienced, it just needs to have the facilities to match this.

Hopefully the building work going on will fix the below average facilities.

You need a water fountain on hand for the climbers to refresh themselves,

The people paying for the climbers are the parents and grandparents who in general end up sitting in their cars as not enough seating or any proper shelter is available.

Get that sorted, you’ll make some decent money out of a proper cafe and spectators will be happier too.

Thanks for your review Neil. As you’ve seen we have a fair amount of building work going on which includes our 200-seater cafebar! All being well, this should be open soon. In the meantime we have various hot & cold drinks & a selection of snacks available from the cabin. We have a water fountain in the main building which is available for everyone to fill up as often as they wish for free. We find the majority of the people paying are usually participating, while a smaller amount do watch from the sides, but for the majority of the time the weather isn’t a particular issue. A shelter is something we have looked at, but ultimately the ropes course are an outside activity, so it does mean things are open to elements. When the cafebar is open there will be somewhere for those watching to take cover if they don’t want to experience things so close up.

I took a group of four 11 and 12 year olds on the high ropes today. We had a fantastic time. We went on levels 2 (moderate), 3 (hard) and 4 (moderate). These were challenging, but manageable (I am 50). The boys were only just tall enough and needed some help to pull some of the equipment close enough to the platforms to get on or off them so older/taller kids will find it easier. I found getting onto the end platforms a bit tricky myself.
It all felt very safe, with no way of unhooking whilst up high. There were two young instructors who were very helpful, kind and patient, especially with one of the boys who on the final level was very cold and tired. One of the instructors went round the course with him and helped him along. Excellent service!
Recommend wrapping up properly if it’s wet and cold. It is physically demanding, but you do spend quite a bit of time hanging around on the platforms waiting for your friends to reach the other side so you can get cold.
Great got chocolate in the cafe afterwards.
Highly recommend!

Brilliant day out at the high ropes course. The course is creatively designed and exactly the right level of challenging, with options for all abilities. We did it as a couple and it is easily challenging enough for adults to have a really rewarding experience, but there are also lots of levels suitable for kids.

The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. The safety equipment is maintained to a high standard and the safety throughout the whole course is excellent.

Parking is free and plentiful. Snacks available and the full cafe is opening very soon.

I’d definitely recommend 270 Climbing for a day out and we will be back to try the bouldering and climbing walls when those open soon too!

We’re just back from our 2 hour climbing slot at 270 and I very highly recommend it.
Great variety of heights of climb for all ability levels and good facilities.
I was especially impressed with the staff who were all polite, helpful and took safety very seriously.
When on our party got stuck the instructor immediately knew how to help.

My son and I visited earlier today. He was just over the 145cm mark to be able to complete all the levels, and I had been worried that if he wasn’t, he would have been bored on the lower levels. However, I was completely wrong. The levels are much, much(!!!) better than any GoApe course. They are challenging for everyone. We paid for three hours and the tower bundle. However, we only completed levels 2-4, with my 11-year old adrenaline-junkie feeling they were sufficient. We have done many of the courses in France and felt that 270 was equal, if not better, than these. We wouldn’t return to GoApe, but we will definitely be back to 270! We also did the zip line (which was ok) and the free fall (which was good fun!) Nice little hut (and picnic benches) for a coffee and ice cream. They are having some building work done but it didn’t distract from our amazing experience and everywhere was spotless (and you can always tell how clean somewhere is from the toilets! 😊)
We will be returning for sure!!!

Wow thank you so much for such a great review! We love what the guys at GoApe do, and even though we both offer awesome high ropes experiences, our course does offer something quite a different and is a lot more challenging than many other courses across the UK. It's interesting that you mention courses in France as our design and system follows a similar model as is often seen in courses in Europe. Anyway it's so great to hear that you enjoyed your visit and time on the ropes! We look forward to welcoming you back again - hopefully the development work will be completed by then and you'll be able to enjoy even more aerial activities with us!

Excellent climbing park. We have visited many similar parks and this one was as good as any. Wide variety of options which start low and get higher and more challenging. There is a wide range of different bridges which are fun as well as tricky requiring a combination of balance and nerves. We went with a 12yr old girl and 18 yr boy and both had more than enough to enjoy. Nicely tended grounds and garden. Very well maintained. Good attention to safety and supportive and friendly staff. Highly recommend going along from young children to confident adults.

A brilliant find. The staff, equipment, safety and facilities are faultless. My nervous son ended up having the time of his life - his confidence has sky-rocketed. The staff are so kind and patient. Great for adults too - although it was a kids’ day out, I ended up on level 2 and jumped off the tall tower!!! It was great all round. I would go back every week if I had the time!

Wow thank you so much for such a fab review! That's brilliant to hear that everyone had a great time and enjoyed themselves - well done for venturing up to the top of the tower and leaping off the Freefall! Hope to see you all again soon!

11 and 8 year old grandchildren. Don't know who loved it more them or us. Wholly recommend this day out, loads of picnic areas and plenty of time to undertake the activities. Really well organised and safe, so nice to have continuous clip on, clip on and off climbing feels far less safe than it did here at 270 Climbing.

Overall very good. Our kids really enjoyed it. When you arrive it looks a bit small but the climbing weaves up and there was actually loads to do. There is a little cafe hut with the basics which was nice and they are doing lots of improvements on the site so I think it will be amazing over the next few years.
