    A cut above the rest
I'm a local to the Derby area. I grew up going to the cinemas all the time, I think I've been to every cinema in Derby at this point and The QUAD is easily my favourite one. The facilities are spotless and the staff are fantastic - John is always very professional and helpful to us. The cinematic experience is on par with the big players, but they just can't compete with the feel and experience of The QUAD. I always go to here if I can help it and it has become a staple of our group's outings. I would give them six stars if I could.

    A varied cinema programme.
I am a regular visitor to the cinema at this lovely arts venue . The Quad shows films that the major cinema groups never touch, foreign ( subtitled ), small independent films and regular cult film screenings as well as an annual film festival. The venue is always clean , the staff always friendly . There is a cafe/bar that serves an excellent locally sourced menu ,and car parking is close by. Always a pleasurable visit. Check out the gallery exhibitions too.

    Lovely staff and great facilities
We visited yesterday to watch the Super Mario Bros. film with our two youngest children and had a fantastic time. The film itself was a great, the staff were friendly and helpful, particularly John (who was also brilliant on a previous visit when I slipped on the stairs and cut my hand) and the access provisions for disabled customers are spot on. We’ll definitely be coming back more often!

No handout with synopsis and cast list.
Went to see Turandot. However, no handout with the synopsis or cast list. I go regularly to Quad to opera and plays, snd until today there has always been the handout sheets, to inform the customer. I questioned this at the end to two members of staff, who looked at me as if I was asking for the moon. Not good enough, Quad. Madame Butterfly next week. I look forward to my handout!! Hi, there was no cast list made available to us for Turandot by the distributors of this particular title. We apologise if this was not communicated to you during your visit. You will pleased to know that we do have them for Madama Butterfly next week!

    A lovely safe space
The Cinema is great for neurodivergent people like myself. Not as many adverts, not as loud, friendly atmosphere and lovely staff. I love going to the cinema alone and it can sometimes be a struggle, but I have always felt safe and comfortable going to the quad. The cafe is also amazing and a brilliant menu suitable for all dietary requirements.

I always have a lovely time at the Quad, it’s great to see a film at a very affordable price and I love being able to see independent and arty films with a small audience and very kind and helpful staff. Thank you to John who served me my drink tonight!

We have visited here on several occasions since we moved away from Derby and have always been happy.
The staff are friendly and helpful, the food is good (although on our most recent visit it was only luke warm) We saw the chef leaving after our food was served, maybe he was in a hurry to get away?

We were disappointed to see that the seating area by the internal windows had been removed as we used to enjoy sitting there.
I have pointed out before that the filthy white chairs would be very easy to clean but it seems that nobody cares about appearance.
The chairs could either be scrubbed with a non abrasive scrubbing pad and some Cif, or a magic sponge, which are readily available, cheap and chemical free.
An hour or so would greatly improve the appearance of the chairs and make the cafe look more attractive.

One more point is that when I went to use the Gents toilet, it was pitch black and the light did not come on until I returned to find the door handle. this could had been extremely dangerous for someone disabled or unsteady on their feet.

We hope to see clean chairs on our next visit. (it really wouldn't take much effort)

Very easy booking system on line then just download/print your ticket and away you go. Comfortable seating in the cinema, went to watch Ethen and the team save the world yet again, what a fabulous film.

My wife and I, visited here after receiving a “Supper Cinema Voucher for Two”. Before going to see the film, we decided to eat in the cafe.

I have to say I was very underwhelmed by the whole experience, with the table being dirty, having to the clear it from the previous people ourselves, & at no point, staff coming over to wipe the table. Once deciding what drinks and food we wanted, from the minimal menu, I waited in a queue to order. When ordering for some reason, the server didn’t know what archers and lemonade was, & when asking a colleague, he said it was a gin? The bar area itself, was dirty, with cups everywhere, & staff running about without much purpose.

Fortunately, when the food arrived, despite looking minimal on the amount of chips, the burgers tasted good.

After food, we went upstairs, & was expecting to get some popcorn, with there being nothing, other than a few baskets or sweets and chocolate. Once in the cinema screen, the seats looked outdated, & stained, with them happily asking £7.50!

Basically everywhere needs a good clean, & refurb, & all staff need retraining. I don’t think that i’ll be visiting again, any time soon!
