    You should definitely go
I have done 2 rooms now, Mary and Tommy, both were excellent rooms, very different challenges. Only managed to escape with a few minutes to spare. The staff are brilliant and really set the scene, they are on hand if you need them.

    Great immersive experience
Completed the Tommy room today with the kids, all three had a great time. Matt was our game master and his passion for the event showed throughout. As escape rooms go, the experience was great - an immersive experience with plenty of theatre to drag you in. Puzzles were very good, with support available if needed. Definitely recommend - kids ages were 15,14 & 10 if that helps you make a decision about booking this room

    Great experience
I visited these guys back when they first opened and loved it. My step kids went for one of their birthdays with their dad the other day and came out raving about it as much as I did 5 years ago. It seems they consistently provide an exciting and immersive experience that is fun for a wide range of ages. I look forward to returning some time soon and the customer service during booking when I needed help was outstanding. Thanks again so much.

    Fabulous experience
My daughter and her friends love escape rooms and whilst searching for one to try for her Birthday we came across unescapable escape rooms. She decided on 'edith' as it was the scary room. On arrival our games master Jay explained everything to us and let me and my husband stay and wait (didn't want to leave incase one of them found it too much and wanted to come out) Anyway we didn't need to worry! They loved it and finished with seconds to spare. They were raving about it on the way home. Although I didn't try the room I'd recommend from my experience and what I was told! Will be back to try myself at some point! Thank you!

    An absolute must! Brilliant!!
I’ve been a total of 3 times and I genuinely can’t recommend enough! The first two times we did the Alan room as we couldn’t complete it the first time. The second room we did was Tommy. The staff are genuinely so lovely and impressive. They commit to their role and make you feel so welcome and immersed in the world they’ve created. They keep the speeches short, sweet and helpful before they give you the story and get you into the room. The rooms genuinely feel like you’ve been transported to another time in a different corner of the world. The puzzles are difficult but so much fun and make you feel so good when you manage to solve it. I definitely want to do the other two rooms! Highly recommend!!

One of my Top 3 escape rooms (Edith)
Room: Edith Me and my wife have done quiet a few escape rooms and this one definitely sits in my all time top 3. The room and puzzles were brilliant. Great story. This is the scary room and you certainly feel uneasy whilst playing it. Corridors, crawling, team work, multiple rooms. Was brilliant. Next time we in derby will be trying out the other rooms here. Can't wait. Highly recommend

    Mary Room
Second time trying an escape room here after not escaping last time. We tried the Mary room this time and managed to escape with time to spare. Our host was Matt who was brilliant, stayed in character the whole time and gave us hints when required but still felt like we solved stuff for ourselves. The actual escape room was brilliant and we especially loved the dancing part.

    Help, we are trapped!
We spent a fabulous hour at Unescapable in Derby completing their hardest challenge, Alan. We did escape thanks to the knowledge of our team mates and a few clues from Matt. It was definitely challenging and we loved it. Two of the people in our group had never done one and they thought it was brilliant. Matt was excellent at his job as a host for the activity. Matt had very good communication skills. Having great staff who get into role makes the activity even more enjoyable. Thanks for a great afternoon Matt.

Fantastic escape room - lots of scares!
Fantastic group activity - just the right level of difficulty and lots of scares! We did Edith ‘the scary one’ as a mixed family group, ages 12 - 43 and we have done Mary before too and loved it. The host was fantastic and really added to the drama. I won’t put spoilers in here but plenty of scary bits and the puzzles were great. Maybe host was a bit too quick with the help but was probably reacting to our terror! Will definitely be back to try another!

My partner and I have done about a dozen different escape rooms across several city locations, it was our first visit to Unescapable in Derby (as well as our first activity visit since the easing of lockdown). We wore our face coverings to enter, walk through and exit the building and used the hand sanitiser provided when arriving and leaving. Our host Bee was so enthusiastic in her presentation delivery, that she kept having to adjust her mask when it constantly slipped as she spoke. Apparently we had chosen their hardest room, which would have been useful to know in advance; most other Escape Room companies provide room rankings when booking, to help in the decision making process. Our bags were left unattended in the corridor leading to the room we were in, as the lockers were not currently being used because of the Coronavirus. I would've felt much more secure having them with us in the room, as we have done at other locations when required. We didn't have to wear our face coverings during the actual room, which was just as well because the room space was so confined and hot. The ambient background music was more 'foreground' which made some of our communication between rooms quite difficult. The audio track volume also didn't help because Bee constantly communicated with us unnecessarily, which was not only distracting and frustrating, but also difficult to hear. The only time we responded to her, was to say that we had actually already completed the task that she thought she was helping us with. One of the clues is only relevant on a seasonal basis... so being told to complete the task by trial and error negates the point of the activity. We did escape, but we were incredibly hot and frustrated with the overall experience (and told Bee that at the end). Our photo was taken, without face coverings, we didn't get to see how it looked; apparently it will be emailed to us. We were however, offered the opportunity to have a photo taken on our phones... which not only assumed we had camera phones... but also meant someone else handling our belongings, which does not seem sensible, given the current increase in Health and Safety guidance. There are other rooms that we would like to play at this location, but will probably book with other companies first.

Hi Angelina, thanks for your review, and sorry to hear your visit wasn't as fantastic as we would have hoped! I just wanted to address a couple of points you raised; with regards the difficulty of the rooms, we have been a little unsure about putting difficulty ratings on our website as some people can fly through a more difficult room, but also get stuck on one of the "easier" rooms, plus some people think an "easier" room means it's an "easy" room, which isn't really the case with any of ours. Having said that, I think Alan probably is a step harder than our other three rooms, and as suggested it may be worth highlighting this on our website, which I will definitely look in to. With regards leaving your belongings outside the room, the area you're talking about was actually our games master room (rather than a corridor) where our member of staff runs the game, so they can keep an eye on belongings whilst we are not using the lockers in the communal areas because of the current situation. The volume of the background track is at a set level over all groups we run, so this is definitely something we will ask subsequent groups about to see if they had the same issues - if you did return at any point and had similar concerns in other rooms our games masters will always be happy to reduce the volume if needed. I've also had a word with Bee regarding the number of clues she was giving to make sure she isn't giving too much away or becoming a nuisance for groups. I'm not sure what you meant by the seasonal clue, as none of our puzzles have any seasonality, and Bee was unsure also, so if you could email us at info@unescapable.co.uk regarding that one that would be appreciated. Unfortunately it was one of the hottest days of the year on the day you visited, and although we opened windows in the rooms we could, I can appreciate it will still have been quite warm in the room. We will also be looking in to what we might be able to implement to make things as comfortable as possible. With regards the photo at the end, Bee did say that she showed you the photo that she took and that you were happy with it, so there may have been some confusion over this as she was under the impression you were happy, and she offered to email you the photo, even though this isn't something we would usually do - normally we would print the photos for people to stick on our wall, but with the current situation we are trying to reduce time customers spend in the reception area to avoid coming in to contact with any other teams. I think she was trying to be polite by offering to take a photo on your phone, but if you weren't comfortable with her touching your phone then she would have been completely fine with not taken one. I hope this answers most of your concerns, and that you do give us a second chance at some point so that we can redeem ourselves! Thanks for playing, and hope to see you again soon.

We called on Sunday morning to book last minute game for the same day. Having never played any of the rooms at Unescapable, we let our GM Matthew picked two games for us.
He chose Alan & Edith for us. It is hard to pick a favourite! We started with Alan which is a busy room for a group of two but so much fun puzzles and such a clever use of space. Matthew was spot on when he advised us to book Alan for the sheer amount of fun and challenge!

As for Edith... Where do I start? It was our first scary room ever. In over 100 rooms, we'd carefully avoided scary themes so far. Huge amount of fun and exciting. It was an adrenaline rush from start to finish, and I don't think it would have been half as enjoyable without Matthew's superb GM's skills (and dedicated attention to jump scare timing!) Needless to say, we'll be back asap to play the 2 other rooms!

If you are unsure which room to play, here are my two cents:

Edith is a fairly approachable escape room in terms of puzzles. You will be your worst enemy in the room when fear kicks in. We did it as a 2 and fairly beginners to scary rooms. It is do-able. if anything, I think that smaller groups are less likely to give in to panic. It also puts a giant grin on your face for the rest of the day. There's so much action in the room that you feel you're on a high.

Alan is their most difficult room. There are a lot of puzzles. Matthew mentioned something like one puzzle every 3 minutes. So, you will be busy. If you are fairly new to escape rooms, Alan would be best suited for larger groups. Difficulty wise, it's tricky because there is a lot to do. Yet, once you start cracking puzzles, you'll rapidly move through the room.

Both rooms have a mix of physical and mental puzzles. There's no need to book a fitness bootcamp weekend to train! But you will need to move quickly at times, take high steps, be comfortable crouching for a brief amount of time, and have some level of dexterity. Think of it this way: If you can comfortably climb the stairs two steps at a time, bend over to tie your laces, and assemble legos, you've got all the agility and flexibility you need.

We did the Mary room and really enjoyed it. We've done over 30 escape rooms and this was one of the ones where we've laughed the most.
The props and design of the room are very well thought out and everything works as it should. we did it as a pair and managed to escape. Our host Marcus was good at giving just the right amount of hinting at the right time.

Our group with ages ranging from 5-45 years thoroughly enjoyed our experience playing the escape room ‘Mary’.The rooms were well thought out, with great puzzles and special effects which made for a highly immersive experience for all. Game master Steve set the scene and provided fantastic supportive, humours interaction, enhancing our overall experience. We will definitely be returning to experience the other rooms in the near future! Would highly recommend to all! Thanks Steve!

Attending the Unescapable Escape Rooms as part of a work jolly, I was initialy sceptical about the activity and spent the first 15 minutes wandering round like a lost sheep. By the end of the game I was fairly engrossed by it and had bought into the experience.

The setup and design is very slick, polished and the two girls running the experience were very good despite their tender age. We were split into two teams, the team with all the managers in and the team with all the real workers in who tackled the Tommy WW1 room. I'm pleased to report that the rudderless, managerless team were able to work together and escape our room a good 15 minutes plus before team management.

TOMMY. I'm a novice escaper but my friends have done many before (I did one recently in Cornwall with 3 first-timers and found it so hard - we didn't escape despite calling lots of hints!) so I was thrilled to be asked to join them so I could have a more fulfilling experience! Wiktoria was our host and the set initial spiel I found unnecessarily long (as you already know the premise from the website!) but she was lovely and positive nonetheless. It was disconcerting to be plunged into total darkness as you enter the portal, so I'd grab a mate's hand first if you don't like the sound of this! Not sure if this dark wait constitutes part of your one hour or not? but you don't do anything till you get into the first bunker.
Having only ever done 2 rooms before, I can only say that these puzzles all seemed manageable and a lot more straightforward than my last one, there seemed a good mix of visual, audio and physical input, and a mixture of useful props and red herrings/ room dressing. My last room had a screen for hints (and from memory, 2 years ago, my first had microphones and speakers to the GM?) and I didn't really like the walkie talkies, I struggled to understand Wiktoria's accent a couple of times, but she happily repeated anyway. The pencil + paper was invaluable, I've read other rooms don't have it and I don't know how you'd cope without it? Also the middle corridor is dark [careful of the chicken wire on the wall, it's a bit abrasive] and you are only given a battery tealight in a lantern (no torch) to see the next padlock, which I found very hard to see with.
I am reading that this is viewed as maybe the easiest room which I'm sure is right as we escaped with a surprising amount of time left, there didn't seem as many puzzles to solve as the Cornwall one, but it was nice to have achieved the escape. And I loved that they printed your team photo straight away for you to stick up on the wall - there are HUNDREDS of pics already!!! and I could have spent hours reading everyone's team names lol!

The four of us visited Unescapable after hearing good things about their rooms - and we weren’t disappointed. We played all four rooms in one day and the design in each is fantastic along with clever thought-out details and puzzles.

Special mention for Steve who looked after us for all four game and provided just the right balance of help/humour when giving clues in each game.

Edith is terrifying and no wonder was voted scariest room the year before last....

The night before me and my friends went to complete the Edith escape room, me and one of my friends were reading reviews about the room since we had never been to Unescapable before. The anticipation to begin the escape room was getting stronger and safe to say, when we arrived, we were not let down at all.
When we were greeted into the building, my first reaction was “woahhhh”. Our host, Jay explained everything we needed to know and truly emerged us into the world of time travel and horror.
When we were taken up to begin Edith, my adrenaline was kicking in just from the story of Edith, told by Jay, the setting and the sound effects.
When you enter the escape room, it truly feels like you’ve just stepped foot into a horror movie. The sound effects, the lighting and the decorations really helped to create an eerie and intense atmosphere.
Throughout the experience, Jay was helpful with providing tips and hints on how we can complete the different puzzles within the escape room. The room had just enough jump scares to provide an intense and unsettled feeling. Me and my friends definitely screamed plenty of times. As well as a couple of my friends singing while running, me and one of my other friends danced to try and not be so scared. The puzzles in the room weren’t too difficult and we managed to finish the escape room with 18 seconds remaining. There were countless funny moments that we all had in the escape room, such as someone accidentally sacrificing himself, 3 people making jokes while trapped in a small room and the countless screams coming from everyone playing.
When we made it out of the escape room, Jay took us back downstairs and we were all recounting the funny moments and the scary moments while we were in the escape room.
Overall, I would 101% recommend the Edith escape room at Unescapable and our host, Jay, was a fantastic host, helping to immerse us all into the world of time travel and horror. Even after the escape room, one of my friends even said that he though we were genuinely going back in time.
Our first experience at Unescapable was definitely a time that me and all of my friends will never forget!!

We visited Unescapable on 2 separate occasions to complete their 4 rooms and we were not disappointed! Mary, Tommy, Edith and Alan each have their own unique take and the theming. Each room varying in skills and difficulty so is a perfect fit for all. I am happy to say we escaped all 4 with Alan certainly being the most challenging and Edith with a unique twist. On a side note a shout out to the staff who on both occasions were brilliant and made the visit even better
