Well this is a bit odd...did not get to see the Heritage Centre because they only open at weekends but did want to post something about Shardlow - the inland port, but could not find any way of introducing a new area to TA. For the record, Shardlow is in Derbyshire and has a lot of history to appeal to... More

Packed with interesting info and exhibits. Bit cluttered but lots to see. Well worth 75p. Just watch the limited opening hours.

Although only small it has a mass of interesting items including many photos and items from Shardlow and its people and the canals, well worth a visit .

Shardlow was the home of my parents and my granparents, so a visit to the heritage centre is also something special to me.

This musuem is open mainly at the weekend and is in a lovely location. The entrance fee is a tiny 75p and there is a lot of information especially about the role of Shardlow in history of the canals. It is small so really suitable for older children. It fits in with a walk around the village well

Found this quite by accident when visiting friends who were moored up at the canal basin. Wished I had had more time to spend there as there is so much to read and look at. Canal history, industrial history, history of colourful local characters and loads of artefacts make this an absolute gem. The lady on duty was a fount... More

This little gem is wonderful and well worth finding, it has lots of local information about the canal and the history of the location, lots of hands on experience although small at 75p to get into its worth spending some time talking to the staff or losing yourself in the history of the place. The location is wonderful quite and... More

Only 75p to get in, and an interesting look at the village and its canal history. We particularly liked the tales of local villains.
