- BradvicRoyal Wootton Bassett, United Kingdom55 contributionsGOOD FOOD, GREAT DAY OUTWhat a great way to spend a day, particularly with children, or golfers. They have football golf, Paddleball courts, driving range as well as a regular golf course. The club house is recently refurbished with a restaurant over looking the property which has a huge patio for summer lunches. It’s modern and welcoming. We have only had lunch there but if the lunch menu and food is anything to go by dinners must be great. The menu is varied and updated regularly. My husband likes the chicken wings and the huge plateful of ham and eggs goes down well. I favour the goat cheese salad, although the flat bread with goat cheese is also excellent. They best chips in town are served here. Sometimes you may need to wait for a table, not that there isn’t tables just that the kitchen is too busy. No problem for us, but, if you are in a hurray best check timing beforehand.Visited December 2022Written 11 December 2022
- SBX37 contributionsHot & Tasty! This isn't the first occasion we've eaten here, but its thefirst time we've had brunch. As with all our previous meals, it was very tasty! I had the avocado, spinach & poached eggs on sour dough toast *the eggs were a £1.00 extra* & my husband had the full English. Both were absolutely delicious, freshly cooked to order & served with a smile!Visited January 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 January 2023
- ClynJan7 contributionsFantastic Wedding Anniversary CelebrationIn February we celebrated our Golden Wedding Anniversary at Basset Down. We had booked the Burnbake Room which had been set up beautifully for our Luncheon get together for 25 of us. The drinks service worked like clockwork and the 3 course meal was served very efficiently and the food was delicious. All of the staff were friendly and efficient. We would like to thank Lizzie and Maria for looking after all of us so brilliantly.Visited February 2023Written 14 February 2023
- TammyWilts250 contributionsFantastic 80th b'day lunchWe had the burbake room for my dad's 80th birthday celebrations. 22 people for a 3 course Sunday lunch. The food was great, hot and plentiful. The staff were amazing. We were very impressed from start to finish. A special shout out to Louise from the events team, thanks for helping make my dad's day so amazing.Visited February 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 27 February 2023
- GarryUKNewbury, United Kingdom399 contributionsVery good food. Slow service. We had a Saturday morning brunch. The food was very good. Good portions and well cooked. Recommend the full English. Comfortable seating. Service though was very slow. It was busy but it took a while to place a order and it was quite a wait to get the food. Coffee was good but tea was just a mug with tea bags dumped in it. Overall we recommend it but maybe not on busy times of the week,Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 March 2023

The beef was so tender and the veg was cooked perfectly. For dessert we had warm chocolate and pecan pie, which was also delicious. Will definitely be back again soon.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 April 2023

- Daisy B2 contributionsSuperb! We are frequent eaters here. We’ve visited with our family, friends and evenings out by ourselves. We have never been disappointed, we’ve eaten from the breakfast, Sunday lunch and evening menu over the different periods of the year. The menus have seasonal changes and always offer fabulous quality meat and veg, there’s also wide selection for any eater. We love the personal touch we receive and getting to know the lovely staff in the restaurant. Most recently we visited for a birthday and the team went above and beyond to make it special. Be back soon!Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 August 2023
- Traveller 53 Wiltshire239 contributionsFine dining and first class service - we'll be back! This review is nothing to do with golf. This is about the restaurant. It's the first time we've eaten in the evening at Basset Down. We've been impressed with their food in the daytime so we decided to give it a try. To start, the ambience is very pleasant with lovely views, comfortable seats.. very clean and well laid tables. Full of other diners enjoying themselves.. some a bit noisy! Staff extremely polite, friendly and efficient. I had the seabass. My wife had the monkfish tail from the specials menu. I'm not an easy person to impress.. but impressed I was. The presentation and flavours of both meals was comparable to a fine dining restaurant. I could not fault the experience in any way. Other than it being a bit noisy it was first rate dining. We now intend to make this one of our 'go to' places! Many thanks to Subhash, Dylan, Jess, Dan, and of course Chef Sam, who by our reckoning must be on the way to Michelin star standard! - You all worked together as a great team! Noted some other reviews not so flattering, but sensible people disregard those and speak about their own personal experience. A gold star to all, and keep up the good work!Visited August 2023Written 22 August 2023

Wow had a birthday lunch here today and it was just perfect. Food was great they have a new menu and the choice is fantastic. Me and the birthday girl had Pan-Roasted Hake with Mussels, Herb Crushed New Potatoes, Grilled Cucumber & Chive Beurre Blanc. It was delicious!!! Atmosphere and service as always was amazing forget this is a golf course club house, this restaurant is the best in the area.

Lovely restaurant, and great meal. Main course substantially nicer than dessert but we would head back. Excellent staff and service. Recommend!

I used the driving range today which was and is first rate. The restaurant looks really good but the service is terrible. I stood at the bar for about 5 minutes not knowing if that is how you arder. At times there were 4 staff behind the counter who have mastered the art of ignoring customers and avoiding any eye contact. They all look unhappy. A smile, a good morning and i will be with you in a minute -- would make you feel as if you exist. When eventually i ordered coffee it was so slow in arriving i almost had to leave. There are plenty of staff but there seems to be a lack of very basic training and management - it should be easy to fix and move towards a 5* destination

Nice golf course and driving range, but food service was ridiculously slow. Good quality food but wait for it far too long.

Visited for lunch - lovely venue - but should have asked for a table overlooking the golf course-instead got seated opposite the toilets squeezed in between to very noisy groups!
Food was very disappointing- low grade pub food - chicken burger(no burger - just 2 over cooked chicken nugget things ) -appalling- everything served with a large plate of chips-salad was not fresh with tomatoes tasted like they were past their sell by date.
Overpriced for quality-and to top it all -they tried to overcharge me when the bill came -will not be returning- get your act together !
