    Poor
The outlet is a great place to shop but watch out for the Penzance Drive bus lane leading to their car park. It’s not clearly marked, Swindon Council has profited millions in recent years from unsuspecting motorists. Clearly this won’t change as it’s a cash cow for them.

    pleasant visit
Its always a pleasant place for a wander around and most times we go there we pick up a bargain from one of the outlets. On this visit we were able to get some presents for Christmas My wife also managed to get a pair of Converse at less than half price she had wanted for some time. There was a good festive feel to the site and people generally seemed to be enjoying the time together, lots of bargains to be had and going by amount of bags going around this was being taken up on. As to the bus lane-when you drive towards the car park in Penzance way-turn your sat nav off and look at where you are heading-its then quite clear the entrance to the car park is to the right in front of you not following the road around which actually is clearly marked as a bus lane.

Council Cash Cow grap from shoppers
I've also been caught in the Swindon Borough Council motorist cash cow scam when visiting the outlets on 10th December 2022. I'm now being blackmailed into paying £35.00p for visiting as the bus lane signage was none existent. What galls me most is that looking at the Penzance Drive reviews this has been going on since 2016. yet the outlet management keeps regurgitating that the are 'working hard' with the council over this disgusting money grabbing by another local council with spider webs around a good shopping experience. Outlets, you've seen the last of us and we'll be telling family friends and anyone sensible to avoid this site as the shop prices may be lower the overall fees are too much

Good shopping but seems to be a great place for some parents to let their kids run riot
We hadn't been to the Swindon Designer Outlet for a long time but it's improved a lot since our last visit. There are loads of amazing brand stores and pretty much everyone can get a bargain here. We got there just as the lunchtime rush was kicking off (which meant long queues and a lot of crowded areas around the food court, which we ended up avoiding entirely. Waiting till later on was a good idea though (is it just me or do people have 1pm stuck in their heads like an alarm clock as the time they absolutely have to eat?) - Eventually we opted to eat at Yo Sushi (see separate review - that bit of the mall was a LOT quieter!) The mall itself is laid out really well, and you will find yourself doing several circuits to visit all the different stores (thankfully there are also lots of coffee places and loos around so you're never far from one, and they're clean and well maintained). I think the only negative point was the amount of kids running around, either scootering or knocking into people. Most parents seemed totally oblivious to their kids being a pain in the butt but there is a playpark in the centre if you're a slightly more responsible parent who doesn't let their kids run riot.

Great if you like designer labels
Access and directions weren’t as good as I hoped but car parking was good, easy and cheap. Nicely laid out and airy shopping mall. Could easily get sucked in thinking you were getting a bargain, just be careful. That said it is a pleasant place to shop.

    I enjoyed my shopping here!
I came here specifically to buy some summer clothes whilst traveling with my husband, the weather in England has been so hot! So I bought a couple of inexpensive dresses from Marks and spencer, a great dress from French connection and w sandals sparkly demo Clark’s. So very happy with my new clothes. The place wasn’t busy so I had a good experience. Had lunch at Giraffes lovely quieter place, the service there was slow….there are heaps of stores and you can shop in peace.

    Shopping
There's a good variation of stores to see. Plenty of sport options such as Adidas, Nike, Puma and New Balance. There's plenty of clothes shops ranging from Next to Calvin Klein and there's some stores you don't see often such as Haribo. It's worth a visit, even if it's one time.

Will spend my money elsewhere out of principle
Travelled from south wales and followed google maps. Have now just received a letter through the post with a £70 fine as 1 of the routes to the car park takes you via a bus lane route that is not advertised as a bus lane route at all. This is apparently a well known issues. Swindon council are making 100’s of grand from these fines. Times are tough enough and if this is the councils approach I will spend my money elsewhere

    Clean venue and easy parking
First time visit, headed for car park on Kemble Drive. £2 for 5 hours seemed reasonable, easy payment at machine and drive out (no cash). Centre itself, all undercover, very clean and spacious. I know that it's billed as a designer outlet but how many clothes do we actually need? Variety of offer would be nice, certainly for a jeans and T shirt guy. The food quarter offerings weren't to our taste so ate off site. We didn't think the pricing was keen in a lot of outlets and therefore weren't tempted to part with cash. If you're after a replacement Motorhead T shirt you're out of luck but if you want a garish waistcoat, it's your lucky day! Glad we went to make a day off it but no need for a return visit.

We are equi-distant from a number of out,et malls, and in the south of England, this one is usually my favourite, as I dislike Bicester, and Portsmouth does not have enough shops.
My rule of thumb with this one is to get in early, or late, as car parking is always horrendous, and then have people parking on the verges, however, and with 30mins free, which I assume is thee as the navigation through the car park is terrible, that sometimes you have to go out and then back in… and then a charge of £2 for up to 5hours encourage people to stay all day…
Eventually, we got a space, and then wandered around for a few hours.. there are much better shops here than a bulk of the outlets.. but same applies here as to any outlet malls that if there are certain clothing shops you like a lot of them offer a further 10-30% discounts with vouchers…. The prices are no way near the price of US outlets.. where gone are the days perhaps of Ralph Lauren T-shirts about £6 and 9oxford shirts less than £20, but you can buys at reduced prices…
Remember that some of the clothes are only produced for outlet selling…
However, Swindon has a lot of appeal,… good selection of shops, food stalls inside and out, and all in a historic building

I know that the outlet claims that they have no influence over the bus lane scam, but it's their customers who are getting fined. The obvious signage for the centre right by the only visible turning into the car park is a perfect trap for drivers who are following sat nav. It's a perfect and blatant trap. Thousands of shoppers are caught by this little money making scheme. The centre and the council should be ashamed. Look at the reviews dating back years. So many people paying up to £70 simply because of poor signage, daft layout and an obvious benefit for the council in raising revenue. I'll never go back.

Just to reiterate the same as everyone else who has been scammed by the bus lane! Unfortunately we will not revisit. McArthur Glen you need to tackle this issue with the council if you want new/returning customers!

These places need to consider exits to their car parks! Tiny S bend to exit the place. Why do they not cater for all vehicles? The other problem is that you have to pay to park here. Not good enough when public transport is rubbish.

some great shops and restaurants however the access is confusing! Be aware of bus lanes surrounding the car park!!! we followed signs to the shopping centre from the M4 then inadvertently entered a bus lane as entering the car park. This was not clear as we were blissfully unaware of this until the fine arrived!

A pleasant afternoon spoiled by council greed.

It was a rainy day and we were down in Swindon seeing the father in law, we were told about the kids train ride in the outlet and so thought that for a couple of pounds and a way to spend some time this was a good idea. Was ok for the price but can't believe a few weeks later we get a penalty notice for driving in the poorly sign posted bus lane. If you follow the signs to the outlet you then pass the car park on the left (outlet on right), it appears the only way into this carpark is to take the left at the lights (that's the logical idea anyway). the signs are not very obvious (when you don't know area and looking for the car park as well as avoiding all the people) .

ln hindsight not the best route due to a badly and ungated bus lane (the signs are not very obvious when you don't know area and looking for the car park) . When you turn left into this 'bus lane' there is only a small no turn sign found that was easy to miss when trying to navigate to the car park that is just there on your left, see image 1.

When you actually turn into the road you are now concentrating on what is in front (not a single bus I might add but plenty of people walking around to look out for) and so the signs you now come across are not something you would naturally look for as you are completing the manoeuvre and trying to do so safely(see image 2).

Swindon council should be ashamed of themselves (if the bus lane is that important then actually put a electric gate there, after viewing the google images it says bus gate on road but no gate is found, you could then be forgiven for thinking you are ok until you come up against the mentioned gate) and the outlet themselves should be lobbying the council to change this cash cow. It seems that many many people get caught by this, just crazy and really spoils the day.

Why doesn't the car park open out onto the main road?

We won't be going back here again as we feel that more should be done to stop so many drivers falling for this, put up a gate to start with and then no issues but this would not make any money for the council.

Wow! What can I say. This place is massive,it goes on and on. Just about every shop you can think of is there. We bought so many things. We found everyone really friendly. My husband is disabled and we managed to borrow an electric wheelchair. This was so helpful as we could put our shopping on too. I don’t think he could have gone an eighth way around it without the help. It was all beautifully lit with Christmas lights. Lots of gift ideas. We went on a Sunday just as it opened. I’m glad we did as so many people arrived. The car park is just a short walk away.

Good shops but be prepared to be held hostage in the car parks. Visited saturday afternoon and was stuck in car park for best part of an hour. Needs people directing traffic and better entrance/exit routes.

Bus Lane. This is basically a joke. There are hundreds of people writing reviews on this matter. The shopping mall needs to not work alongside the council but raise this as an issue. They will be loosing customers as a result of a sign the size of a football.
