About
Celebrating their 30th birthday, Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom has taken a huge step and relaunched as Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World. With over 100 species of animals, 15 animatronic dinosaurs and activities taking place all day Hoo Zoo really is a fun day out whatever the age. Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World launched back in 1991 as Hoo Farm Country Park and over the past 30 years has become one of the midlands premier attractions - even winning National Farm Park of the year along the way. In 2004 the farm became a licensed zoo and hasn’t looked back. Now the zoo is home to not just sheep, cows, pigs and horses but other zoo favourites such as Meerkats, Lemurs, Servals, Caracal and even Wolves. Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World is extremely passionate about conservation with a strong message throughout the zoo of conservation through education. This is put across through the fun informative meet and greets that take place but also the renowned animal experiences (advanced booking essential).

- Nikki D2 contributionsDisappointingTook our grandkids who enjoyed the play area most sadly fairground ride was extra cost. Animals section looked a bit scruffy compared to our visit before Covid. Dinosaur area a bit blah!I'm sorry that you found your visit to us disappointing. I do wish that at some point in the 4 months between your visit and this review that you had reached out to us so that we could have helped answer some of your concerns (for example I'm not even sure what 'Blah' means). - Linda WIpswich, United Kingdom45 contributionsA visit to Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur ParkWe visited Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur park on New Years Eve 2022. The staff were very friendly and helpful, feeding the deer was a big hit with all the children. The Dinosaur park was excellent, well set out, lots of information and moving, noisy making exhibits. We made a full day out of the visit as it had been very expensive to get in. We all felt that compared to Zoo/farms we have close to home in Suffolk it was very overpriced. Thanks for visiting. - Wendy T1 contributionCharged for 3 experiances but only really had 2Meerkat and lemur experiance great but servil was not interactive and never was going to be as known NOT to be interactive with the public. So odd that we werent shown the servil that was interactive! Servil experiance waste of money and dissapointing. The rest of the experiance was lovely and would recommend.Hi Wendy, Thank you for your review, I'm sorry you were disappointed by the Serval part of the experience. We do make it very clear on our website when booking that all interaction is animal led and this is clearly reflected by pretty much all our tripadvisor reviews. We only run a strict amount of experiences with each Serval daily so wouldn't have been able to take you to meet the other Serval. - Chris SNuneaton, United Kingdom2 contributionsGood experienceWe did a meerkat and Lemur Experience and the meerkats were really good and the keepers were very informative. We were a bit disappointed with the Lemur Experience as we only managed to get close to 1 Lemur in the woods, as the others were all in the trees in the woods. We would have liked to be in the Lemur cages with them all, as we have seen with other peoples experiencesThank you for your review, we're really pleased you enjoyed your visit to us and have passed your thanks on to your keeper. I'm sorry to hear that the Lemurs weren't very cooperative. We do advise that all interaction is done on the animals terms. We hope to see you again soon. - Gary JGlenrothes, United Kingdom2 contributionsGreat day outBooked a meerkat, lemur and serval feeding experience as a gift for my partner Nigel. The member of staff who gave us our tour was lovely, and very informative. Really enjoyed feeding the meerkats and lemurs. Then had a lovely time walking around the zoo and dinosaur park. Stopped off for something to eat at the tea room. The food was lovely and so was the coffee. Overall a great day out, wonderful place with lovely, friendly staff. Me and Nigel will definitely be back.Thank you for your review, we're really pleased you enjoyed your visit to us and have passed your thanks on to your keeper. We hope to see you again soon. - Emily Potter1 contributionVery goodMe and my family had amazing experience at Hoo zoo we stayed in the badgers wood (which we have stay in about 4 times now). We met a patriot which said “hello”. The park was a well made play park. The prices in the dinosaur tea room were quite high. But we had a good day there.Thank you for your review, we're really pleased you enjoyed your visit to us. I have passed your feedback on to our catering manager. We hope to see you again soon. - Bex B5 contributionsSo much funThis experience was brilliant. The meerkats and the lemurs were so much fun to meet and feed! I thought we were feeding the serval too which we didn't but we were lucky enough to go inside the enclosure with Zeus! Would highly recommend for animal lovers.Thank you for your review, we're really pleased you enjoyed your visit to us and have passed your thanks on to your keeper. We hope to see you again soon. - Helen B1 contributionLoved the lemurs!Visited for an experience - up close with lemurs, meerkats and a serval. Paid a discounted rate for the experience - a full price of £145 would have been rubbish value for money. Feeding the lemurs was the absolute highlight! We would have liked to spend more time with them, rather than seeing the single serval who slept in his bed while we stood around and looked at him (I compare this to the experience we had at the Big Cat Sanctuary, where we were in a pen with 15-20 of them). Meerkats were also fun, but the lemurs had spoiled us re interactivity! The zoo in general is easy to get around and on the cold, rainy day of our visit was fairly quiet.Thank you for your review, we're really pleased you enjoyed your visit to us and have passed your thanks on to your keeper. - SmokeyjoekipperWolverhampton, United Kingdom60 contributionsBadger WatchIt was lovely to see badgers up close on the badger watch experience, however it did take over 3 hours of sitting in the cold waiting for them as badgers do not tend to come out until it is dark. The timing would be much better if it was from 7pm. We also enjoyed hearing the wolves howling as it was getting dark.Thank you for your review, we're really pleased you enjoyed your experience. Unfortunately it isn't possible to start the experience later as the Badgers will often come out at dusk so we need to ensure that the everyone is in the Badger Hide and quiet about 20-30 minutes before then. I can't begin to describe how wonderful we found this place. All the animals were clearly happy and well cared for. The staff were extremely knowledgeable and courteous. We had the pleasure of going for the carnivore experience and wholeheartedly enjoyed the entire park. Fantastic for couples & families. We will be going again. Make sure you take dreamies for the farm kitties.

Bought a carnivore experience for myself, my daughter, my mother and my nephew for Christmas last year but due to family circumstances have only just been able to use it. Highly recommended. Lovely park, food was delicious and reasonably priced as were gifts. Staff were all friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. Animals were well cared for and seemed happy in exhibits made to enhance enrichment. The carnivore experience was amazing. First went in and met Zeus the Serval who was chilling in his clean bed. Then on to the snakes and the kids held a boa constrictor (Mum & I were happy to just take photos!). Next on to meet and hold Specsavers the spectacled owl, whose claim to fame was being in the Harry Potter films! Finally we went in and hand fed the red foxes. Mog was my favourite. Fantastic day out.

Despite the drizzle and mud. Had a lovely day. Three animal experience was great. Staff were friendly and helpful. Sarah, who did our experience was super. The enclosures were well set up. We could even get hot food despite it being low season. Extra cuddles to Raven

We had a lovely time the children loved it especially their time with the lemurs. The only thing that we would say is it could do with more enclosed areas for eating especially in colder months other than that it was great we would definitely go again

Went for my grandsons 9th birthday for the Meercat experience. We visited 3 separate Meercat enclosures, one was indoors, one in partial cover and one fully outdoors. There are other animal experiences available. One more adult and one other child came to the farm with us. It was quite muddy but that's understandable. Saw many animals that I've never heard of. Very interesting. Lots of animals that I have. There are sheep, reindeer, goats, a large pig and other animals to feed. A tub of food is £ 3, I think. Well worth getting some. Plenty to see. Not spread out too far so not too tiring, (unless you've done The 4 x 4 driving walk). The otters were favourite but all animals were easy to see and seem contended. Staff are so knowledgeable and happy to chat. a very pleasant relaxed atmosphere. Food was a bit basic but ok. There is a go kart track and the mini 4 x 4 driving track through a little wood but an adult has to walk round with them with an emergency stop button so be prepared to walk. That cost £6 for 10 minutes of driving (and walking)! I
Lots of parking but if you can't get in the closest 30ish spaces there is about 3 to 5 minutes walk from parking to the entrance. We all loved it. I would definitely recommend it.

I had been to the Zoo in June 2023 and my passion is for Wolves so to see them so close albeit behind a large fence was amazing. The keeper came and give us a great talk and I loved my day. On this visit my girlfriend surprised me with the Wolf Breakfast Experience I found it quite amazing to feed the wolves and be so close I had wanted to feed the red foxes too but that was not a option. Sadly I did not get the chance to prepare food for the animals as advertised which was sad i did get to feed them with chicks however. The price was £200 and although being close to the wolves I did not feel that the price was excessive for the experience given I say that with a heavy heart but it is not worth the money paid.

Didn't see any when we were there, and there are a lot of roaming cats, so your dog might not appreciate a visit there.

I've read that oaths are gravel and tricky for wheelchairs. What does everyone think? Is it that bad for. Chairs? Thanks

Hi Sherpa51048291493,
We've tested different wheelchairs on site and some areas are difficult, however most pathways are possible as the gravel is now very compacted.
If possible we recommend using wheelchairs with larger wheels.
Kind Regards

I appreciate you asked this question quite a while ago but yes, this is a great place for a 2 year old. I would suggest keeping your toddler close though, as it is a working farm and tractors and workers to go by with machinery etc.

2 if us (party of 4) want to do the meerkat experience, 2 are a little scared. Woul they be allowed to come with us and take pictures for us? And of course pay to go around the farm?

one part if the meerkat experience was inside so they probably wouldn't be allowed to go inside there but the other is in a outdoor enclosure they would be able to watch and take pictures of that part for sure x
