It's main interest is about Matthew Web, the first man to swim the English Channel. Other than that there is nothing special about it; just another civic memorial!

I enjoy walking past the monument in the city center. It is lovely to see markings of historical significance in the community.

A nice tribute to are very own Dawley hero. It's just a shame that not many people see it as should, as Dawley is on the decline. Now the proposed threat of no market in Dawley even less will see it!

It is well made and attractive looking. A lovely monument to a well known local man. It's a shame he drowned in another country.

There is a hero in every town, here's one. It's an amazing story what Captain Webb achieved. For an unrecognised town this changes all that, vibrant, rich historical facts. town.

Understated and not advertised. A poor show for a Great Man. Dawley could display the significance of a Superhuman feat. As a few of us know Dawley is the intellectual neucleus of the known Universe.

If you title a monument at least use the correct name, unfortunately this great monument has been moved around by the council and as usual the council were not born here, Dawley and Captain Webb and the pig on the wall started Dawley New Town and the Telford name killed Dawley History

Well worth checking this out, a monument to Dawleys most famous son. Makes interesting reading and worth learning a bit of the history of Captain Webb!
