Worth a look

Dropped in during my lunch hour. Convenient location. Enjoyable display celebrating birth of Capability Brown. Good displays of Basingstoke history and archeology too.

I have grown up with this museum from when it was in Cross street to now. I think it is a mixture of very samey objects and some excellent and vibrant exhabitions of a varied nature. The little coffe shop is a quiet haven. I like it here.

Always has and always will be a great little museum for local history . From way back when the Romans were about right up to modern times . I do like the 60s and 70s plastic stuff and all the old style food packets. Well worth a look round next time you are in Basingstoke

A little haven of art, and peace in amongst all of the hustle and bustle of town and shoppers. Always lovely to pop in and see what exhibition they have on, be it an art, or historical based one. A nice little coffee shop is tucked away inside too. A free attraction, where you will almost certainly learn a little... More

A very small museum but the staff we spoke to were very welcoming. There is a small shop where they sell craft items as well as historical gifts.

Not exactly stimulating but interesting enough for half an hour if it's raining. Once you have visited not exactly somewhere to go back again though

It's a brief history of Basingstoke, but well laid out and staff who wanted to share their enthusiasm for their home town. We also used their cafe and that beautifully set out and enjoyed carrot cake and earl grey there.

Our three boys love visiting this free museum, and it brings back so many childhood memories for me.

First time visit here, we moved to the area not too long ago and it was fascinating to find out about how Basingstoke has changed over the last few hundred years. Great family friendly museum, perfect for indoor days out and best of it is free!
