Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I wish I'd read the reviews before visiting! I was really excited that you could stay the whole day for the price of one session, but now I can see why it was cheap. Rink badly maintained - leaks in the roof meant that there are continual drips on the ice (and your head!) causing more and more bumps. Half the rink was in darkness. The area surrounding the rink is filthy. Cafe not open. Shop not open (only when the owner decides to pop in or someone phones him but he wasn't answering my calls or voicemail). Aside from the young lady who was on reception when I arrived, who was lovely but left soon after I arrived, the staff were awful. Due to the state of the ice, I asked if the ice would be cut at some time between 10am and 4.30pm. I was told at least 3 different answers from the same people - ice cutting machine is broken, then I was told oh, it only gets cut twice a day, and then was told it gets cut 5 times a day. Really no clue :(

Difficult to know how to review this place.
I read the reviews on our way there and was terrified we were going to have an awful time.
The reviews are correct in that the place is run down, it’s not ideal. But…there was some ice and we skated on it, and we had fun. I haven’t skated for 10 years and we took our 3 year old who has never skated before, we both loved the experience. The penguins and polar bear stabilisers are fun for kids, although expensive at £7 extra for 1 hour hire.
If you go with low expectations you may still be able to enjoy it!

The family visited the Ice Rink last Saturday. Having paid for admission and skate hire, we went inside and saw the shop was open. We end inside and long story short, bough two pairs of skates, meaning our skate rental ( which we hadn’t used ) was no longer required. The shop said get a refund so I thought nothing of it.

We stayed and had a pizza upstairs. Took a while to arrive but it was ok, nothing to write home about and not cheap but convenient.

We continued skating - irritating was that the end was marked off for a party and the centre was dominated by figure skaters, but we did skate in what was poor conditioned ice for the remaining 2/3 of the rink.

When leaving I asked if we could have a refund on the skate hire - after all i had paid for something is not used and gone on to spend nearly £200 at the rink for boots and food. But the answer was an emphatic NO due to their refunds policy.

I fee this is really harsh - it’s the principle not the amount. Having our over £200 their way in admission / food / skates ( they may not see the skates as profit but I’m sure they rent out the shop real estate ), I fee they should have refunded it as the decent thing to do. Not customer centric at all !

Horrendous customer service. I booked ice skatitng lessons but due to family issues I was not able to fulfill them. 6 months later I am still fighting for a refund due to genuine circumstances & no response - dont even trust or entertain these people - absolutely SHOCKING !!

As a child I created many memories here. However, when I walked in last month I instantly regretted it. The place is soulless and deteriorating to the point that it is concerning. There is no seating as all the stands are sectioned off with yellow and black tape, and even if you wanted to sit and watch you would struggle due to the glass surrounding the rink is full of condensation. It seemed to us that the floors were sinking! The first pair of boots I was provided with didn’t lock, and even when I found a pair that fit, they were no use on the ice as the blades were blunt! As a family attraction it is disheartening to see this place has been left to rot when it has the potential to be great - like it once was!
Due to my concerns of the health and safety of this ice rink and the building I reached out to Planet Ice. A receptionist responded twice to say someone would be in contact - I am yet to hear anything. This for me screams that no one could care less.

Booked online, traveled almost an hour to get here, only to discover that even though I had booked both my tickets and rental hire, they had no skates available. It turns out it wasn't just me, whilst we were in the lobby I saw 5 full families complete with bookings getting the same treatment. How do you mess up something as simple as the booking system.

To make matters worse, the manager on duty, whilst admittedly trying his best to help, couldn't offer anyone a refund. The best he could offer was 'maybe a refund once I get into contact with head office, and that's on a case by case basis'.

This business failed on so many levels, how can it be run so incompetently. There were many opportunities to not have this happen: booking system with correct inventory levels, mass emails once a situation had happened to prevent disappointment, and the ability to provide immediate refunds on premise.

What a miserable failure.

Having looked at your web site we decided to visit you
Up on arrival we were virtual turned away as we had not booked on line, not willing to accept this and perused our position that it did not stipulate booking on line your receptionist gave us trace forms to fill in then allowing access. When offering payment we were asked for £37,80 for a family of 3 ticket, I questioned this as your web price says £9.90 each you cashier said that your web site was not clear and the £37.80 was correct ( later checking at home I found that you add skate hire later not clear in your web site)
When entering the changing area we found this dingy dirty and in need of a total upgrade, to add to this the skates were old, tatty and uncomfortable.
Using the toilet in these covid times there were no toilet paper, towels or soap and this also needed cleaning (we reported this to a member of staff)
This whole experience was very disappointing if it was not having taken our granddaughter we would have requested a refund and left

Booked online …. Simple booking process although misleading pricing … as it says £14 for adults but when you go to next page it’s £2.90 on top for skate hire ….
Queued for 10 minutes to get boots …. All boots were in really bad condition .. and they had run out of numerous sizes … I had to return my first pair and swap for another as first ones were so blunt and didn’t have any grip and had rusty blades …
The ice was really rutted …
Toilets were filthy
Seating areas around the rink also dirty
The place was really tired
I’ve given it a two rather than a one as the over worked staff were very helpful and friendly
Won’t be rushing back … very overpriced for the experience we had which is sad …

Went with 3 kids (14,10 &10), upon arrival around 2.15 we ordered food upstairs, Donna reluctantly took the order, then waited 45 minutes to receive a pizza, panini and hamburger...as the only food to be ordered by anyone whilst there it was baffling to understand why it took so long....
Then paid £37 for the 3 kids to skate (including skate hire) which I thought was pricey. At about 3.20 I thought I would join the kids as they were struggling a little. I went to pay but the only cashier was on the phone to another irate customer for at least 7/8 minutes so I had to wait. When he finally decided to pay me some attention he told me they were closing at 4pm and would still have to charge me £13.50 for the last 25 minutes or so, so I didn’t bother.
Overall, the whole experience was fairly underwhelming and costly although the kids enjoyed it.....will try Bracknell next time.

We visited today and what a bitter disappointment . We were a group of nine so not a cheap day out @ £12.85 per person. The ladies toilets were disgraceful to say the least..In fact bordering on a health hazard. Used tampons on the floor, blue roll instead of loo roll. I checked the cleaning rota and the last clean was in October today is the the 21st of December. The coffee shop is a joke waited for 20 minutes for someone to come and serve me. I was the only one there at the counter. We had to change our skates a few times…broken, no padding on the inside and generally bad upkeep and controls. No hand sanitizer anywhere just the employ bottles. If the establishment has a staffing problem, it should not open to the public and take the money from hard working folk just wanting a good day out. This place is not fit for purpose!
