I have my horse Tonto on livery at Ride High and have had him on livery for the past 4 months since I have moved down here. I was recommended Ride High by a friend who lives in the area as they had said there was new management and profits were recycled back into the charity.
Since Tonto has been here he has enjoyed every minute of it, he is out in the field all the time (which we love, we hate it when he is in his stable all the time), brought in ready for us coming to ride.
If we ever ask for him to be in his stable, when we get there the stable is always clean, with sufficient hay and water. There is always one of the lovely members of staff around to help if there is anything we need.
I have never once had a problem with anything at Ride High. If I ever did, I know that I can just speak to someone and we can sort something out.

I can easily recommend Ride High as a full livery yard, the value for money is excellent and I love how much my Tonto has settled in and made some fantastic friends.

My experience here is in a volunteer capacity only, but I have a horse riding history so i know what’s good & what’s not! Great care is taken toward all concerned: staff, volunteers & those coming to enjoy their riding experience. The horses are happy & well looked after & the yard is well equipped.
It has been a pleasure for me to be part of a team that helps young people enjoy horses who might not otherwise get a chance, as well as those who do.
And I hope to be able to volunteer for some time to come. The equestrian centre certainly now has a new lease of life!

My daughter has been riding at ride high for a year now. She began in the ‘indoor school’ and has progressed to a higher level and is a member of the Pegasus club. Taking part in weekly hour long lessons which she does in a small group of children around the same level of ability (regardless of age)

Olivia (aged 9) has taken part in every pony camp (3 day holiday run groups) since she started, and just yesterday she completed the first 5 day camp.
She has also had a private lesson, and taken part in extra Pegasus evening events throughout the year.

Ride High have really helped her confidence and we are very grateful for this. All team members are approachable, friendly, knowledgeable and fun. She truly enjoys the activities very much.

The horses are shown so much love. Their stables and living areas are in excellent condition. You can see the love the workers have for the horses, which is wonderful. They know the horses individual personalities and preferences and share these with the children.

The people learning how to ride are taught the importance of respecting and loving the horses as well as how to ride correctly. Which is extremely important. They are taught the dedication and work that goes into owning a horse as well as how to ride correctly, safely and progress the children through levels when they are ready and showing consistent abilities.

I think Ride High is very well run and we love seeing the smile on Livvis face every time she attends. Definitely 5 stars for this place, and we hope to have many many more years of happiness here 🌟🐎💕 Thank you Ride High for everything you do for Olivia and all that you continue to do.

I was a livery at Loughton Manor Equestrian Centre before Ride High took over and was looking forward to all the improvements that were promised. Unfortunately keeping my horse at the yard once it was the Ride High Equestrian Centre was very stressful and not enjoyable. My horse was improperly cared for (dirty water that was often half empty and not fresh, stable not mucked out properly and not enough bedding) and I found my self re-doing most things despite paying £450 a month for livery. His stable always had droppings scattered through the bedding and his bed was always too thin. When I complained and asked if I could put another bale of shavings in, someone came up to me and said they didn't put more bedding in as he is too messy. I know my horse is very dirty in his stable, however that is not a reason to give him insufficient bedding. If RHEC do not want to spend money on shavings they need to swap to straw and insure horses always have enough CLEAN bedding. I always had to change my horses water as it was always dirty and half empty. Stables were never checked after they were mucked out. The yard was always very unorganised, my horse was in a different paddock almost everyday and when I would ask where he was no one would know, it often took 3 different people to tell me where i could find him. It got to the point where i was told i was not allowed to bring my horse in anymore and that only staff could bring him in. The new ménage fencing is very good however it is almost impossible to get use of facilities. The indoor school is tiny, horses struggle to even trot in it so i couldn't ride in it. The XC field was split up in to small fields so i was no longer able to ride out there. The riding school is so busy you hardly ever get use of the ménage. I moved away in September and moved my horse, which the disorganised yard made 10x more stressful. It was arranged with the yard manager and riding school managing director that my horse would be turned out as normal and i would get him in when i arrived to load him in the afternoon. However when i arrived my horse was stood in his stable like a lemon and when i asked if he had been out that day i was told he hadn't. As if trying to load a fresh thoroughbred wasn't stressful enough, when i went to pack his belongings i found that things i bought for him (bucket, likit, salt lick etc) had been moved from his stable and put in the riding school horses stables. Only 1 member of staff made the effort to come up to me and say goodbye, the rest, including the yard manager, just ignored me.

Unfortunately I didn't enjoy my time at the yard, which is a shame as the charity is fantastic and the riding lessons seem much better. But the livery is expensive, below par and I definitely would not recommend it to anyone.

Absolutely disgusted by the welfare of the horses. There was a horse named Bonnie and pony named Jemima in the lesson my children were in that were DISGUSTINGLY overweight. The horses are overworked and overused, especially in this summer heat. In the school for up to three hours back to back with no water. Most ponies and horses are lame. The condition of the stables there is terrible, the ponies don’t see daylight. There is a grey pony currently caged in the car park, which is atrocious. Would NOT recommend paying for lessons to any parent, they are overpriced for what you receive and your slot is never garunteed and are often taken by “Pegasus” club members. So you can easily get pushed out of lessons.

However the staff team are lovely and welcoming, and cannot fault the volunteers that lead in my children’s lesson every week. And

Thank you for your feedback and we’re sorry that you feel you have had a negative experience at the centre. Our staff and volunteers take great care and effort in looking after our horses, and we take complaints about the welfare of our horses extremely seriously. Please be reassured that all our horses and ponies have options of turn out in our 37 acres of fields regularly throughout the day and overnight, however in their best interests we sometimes need to limit their time outside. Our horses and ponies are regularly checked by the farrier and vet to ensure they are healthy and happy. Just like people, breeds of horse can vary greatly in height, weight and general build and all our horses are fit and healthy, checked regularly by a nutritionist, chiropractor and other equine professionals to advise and adapt their care plan through the year. We continually monitor the weather and heat index, and during heatwaves like we have seen recently, we will alter the lessons as appropriate and focus teaching on areas such as perfecting position, lateral work and hacking which have lower impact on the horses during hot weather, yet still offer a great way for our clients to learn. We always ensure our horses have access to water, which includes recently renewed, self-filling troughs in the fields and a fresh water supply always on hand in the yard. Horses may also be brought into the stables during the hottest parts of the day as it is cooler for them in the shade. The horses are kept fly free with fly spray, fly rugs and fly masks which you may see them wearing out in the fields. Following lessons or activities we also hose down the horses which keeps them cool. When booking lessons, we ask for payment to secure each place. This helps to make sure that we don’t have ponies tacked up, waiting in the yard unnecessarily should people not turn up to their lesson or activity, or as has happened in the past, prevent other clients from enjoying riding at a time they could have due to bookings being made but not taken. Thank you for your lovely comments about our staff and volunteers, they take great pride in caring for our horses and ensuring that everyone has a fantastic experience at the centre, and we value every member of the team – horse or human, greatly. We would be more than happy to meet with you at the centre to discuss your concerns further, please email us at info@ridehighequestriancentre.co.uk to arrange a meeting should you wish.

Girls birthday party for ages 9 to 12 years. The girls all had an amazing time playing games on the horses and grooming and dressing them up in ribbons, bows etc. The team at Ride High were so friendly and fun and looked after us amazingly. The party room and food were great too. Thanks for giving us all a wonderful experience. Would recommend to anyone, the girls are still talking about it now.

I'm so glad that Ride High has replaced Loughton Manor. Been going since September 2017 and always feel safe, happy and above all positive on my visits. Staff are so friendly, talktative, horses are wonderful and fun to ride. Bonnie is my favourite as I've ridden her more recently but I fell in love the moment I saw her.

I can proudly say I'll be making as much trips there as possible! Really makes those dreadful memories of Loughton Manor buried for good.

I went to this stables when it was previously Loughton Manor Equestrian Centre. I Had a few lessons and soon realised it was over priced, boring and the horses were not respected or properly looked after by the staff. The staff there were incredibly lazy and rude. When Ride High took over I was looking forward to all the positive changes they promised, only to be left shocked and disappointed. They immediately changed all the turnout into tiny paddocks which quickly became over grazed with several ponies in each field. When I asked them why they had done this I was told that the horses suffered with laminitis. That may be true for some, but I very much doubt that Ride High purchased 20 riding school horses which all suffered from laminitis. One of the major promises from Ride High was that the worn, dirty stables would be renovated to make them safe for horses. Yet they bought 20 horses and put them in the old, damp stables and had the cheek to set up a campaign to raise £20,000 to renovate. They branded the stables dark, damp and unsafe, but surely if that is the case you would spend the money on the stables BEFORE you buy horses to live in them. They claimed they couldn't afford the repairs yet the first thing they started was converting the old lecture room into a café, not a priority in my opinion. I don't deny that their riding lessons seem much better quality, even though they are still hugely over priced. But I don't believe this is a great equestrian centre, they lack the facilities, decent staff and decent friendly management.

The staff were very accommodating regarding our specific needs. The facilities are excellent. Our group of four children were welcomed, supported and encouraged throughout . I will definitely return. Excellent value for money. The venue is easy to find. Great for Milton Keynes and surrounding area to have this opportunity to ride.

Firstly a little history. 18 months ago our then 13 year old daughter was diagnosed with extreme anxiety, anorexia and self harmed to cope. This as you may imagine is absolutely terrifying as a parent. For 6 months we as a family battled with this illness with help from the medical services, but nothing really seemed to make much difference. We were getting to the point we were scared we were going to lose her forever....

Then one day we discovered a place called Ride High Equestrian Centre. So we all went there to have a look around... We booked some lessons for our two daughters....They loved it... We joined the Pegasus scheme. Since that day our daughter has slowly and steadily improved. She is now 14 and spends every spare moment she has at ride high volunteer working for them. She loves the horses and has made some incredible friends, all of which we know have helped her back from the brink. She is now eating normally, not self harming and although anxiety is still there she now has something so powerful in her life that she has learned to cope with it.

So, thankyou so much to Ride High. Your facility is an absolute credit to all who work and play there. You have changed many young peoples lives by just being there, supporting them and not judging them.

I have just sat and read the odd negative review on this site and honestly can't believe they are talking about the same place, they make me feel quite angry tbh. The horses/ponies are all very well cared for, the stables are immaculate...I know because my daughter spends hours cleaning them with other staff and volunteers ;-) The staff are amazing, friendly, professional and supportive.

I find it amazing the positive affect horses/ponies can have on people, especially the young. But I have witnessed it myself...

Ride High is a place both our daughters absolutely love being at.. Especially our 14 year old. It is her sanctuary.

Thank you so much for giving us back everything xx

Dear Tony, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a heartfelt review, it is very much appreciated and we are so glad that the Ride High Equestrian Centre has helped your family in this way. As you know, we're a social enterprise and we're therefore very thankful for the level of support we receive from all of our volunteers and grateful for your daughter's help looking after our horses and maintaining our stables. It is therefore truly wonderful to hear that we have had such a positive impact on your lives as well and we thank you for sharing this. Yours sincerely, Sophie (on behalf of all the team at the Ride High Equestrian Centre)
