What a wonderful visit! We arrived spontaneously as an afternoon activity. Our first surprise was that it was free (always a bonus when family trip is concerned) and upon further exploration we found so much on offer! Artefacts and exhibitions on a range of subject from dinosaurs to military medals. It's a shame we arrived an hour before closing but... More

Ive taken my 3yr old grand daughter here many times, she loves it. My grandson whos 11 loves visiting too, we have also been to several workshops, held on half terms, which have always been great fun and educational. The staff are brilliant, its never too much for them to help, chat, offer a friendly hello. There something of interest... More

My little boy loves this museum. Never has enough! We have to visit at least three times a month. He is only 3 years old but he likes animals, dinosaurs . Worth a visit. Definitely recommend

Had fun walking round with my friend and her 3 year old. We wanted to take her 11 month old but there are to many stairs to keep lifting the pram up and down. There are lifts but they don't go to all of the rooms. Some of the exhibits could have been bigger like the Egyptian and dinosaurs as... More

Management response:

Hi Suzy K, Thanks for taking the time to review Maidstone Museum. We understand that accessibility is an issue within the older part of the building and we are working on ways to improve this with future projects. We are in the planning stages of a gallery refurbishment for the current Egyptian section and hope to have the project well... More

First of all the museum is free entry, which is always a rare find especially in the summer holidays!. The staff were welcoming and informative and the exhibitions were fantastic. My children loved the dinosaur exhibit and were in awe of the Egyptian mummy! Fantastic place that's worth a visit.

Dear Cliff Thanks for your kind review. I'm very happy to hear you enjoyed yourself. We are open on Sundays during the summer but we don't open on Mondays anymore. Still, plenty of time for people to visit us and hopefully enjoy it as much as you did. Victoria Barlow Museums Director More

Lived in Kent all my life but moved to Wales 2 years ago. Been visiting family this weekend and took a trip to the museum. What a great afternoon we had didn't even know it was there. Fantastic you must pay a visit.

This museum must make Maidstone very proud. Housed in a fabulous Elizabethan manor house with a contemporary extension, there are collections to suit all ages and interests. The Japanese room is beautiful. The temporary 'Treasures from Trash' exhibition both sobering and marvellous. I almost literally bumped into a boy in the Egyptian section who was lying in wait for a... More

Dear CBCK1 Thank you for your kind words which I have shared with the whole team. We are indeed very proud of the museum and it's always great to hear when people share our enthusiasm. I hope the little boy didn't lie in wait too long for the velociraptor as we have a strict rule that our dinosaurs aren't allowed... More

The dinosaur exhibition was a real hit with my five year old, she wasn't interested in much else! There is plenty to see though. I also have a one year old who is not quite walking yet, some exhibitions are upstairs where pushchairs are not permitted so meant I had to carry her which was a bit of a pain.... More

Dear Natalie Thanks for your review. Although pushchairs are allowed anywhere in the museum, all the stairs and different floor levels can be a pain. We are working on improving this though. I'm glad to see the dinos were a hit with your daughter! Victoria Barlow Museums Director More
