A gem of a traditional pub/alehouse that specialises in offering customers the best of Kent. Four hand pumps offer a continually changing array of locally produced ales representing the diverse talent and imagination of Kent's finest brewers. Of the fourteen ale, lager and cider products available on tap only three are not local. Add to this the quaint age of the building with its sloping floors and lopsided walls, the friendly feel and an extremely varied jukebox (which can be varied in volume in all rooms for comfort and enjoyment), plus TV, darts and traditional pub games and then you have a very special pub. Monthly quizzes and Karaoke, two weekly poker nights (Wednesdays and Sundays) and a Warhammer Group every Saturday, occasional live music and lively fun weekends in good company reflect the magic of 'The Pig' which attracts a most diverse group of folks of all ages and leaves newcomers feeling like they have just been adopted by a big family. There is no other like it!

I cannot recommend this pub enough! I have been living in maidstone for 5 years, visiting it for more than I can remember! Though I would visit for a quick drink whilst waiting for friends! The barman(I can assume was the landlord) was so welcoming!...More

A really well looked after historic building with lots of charm and always a friendly atmosphere. The landlord sources local ales which are changed very regularly and are always fresh and clean - none of your stale ale and dirty pipes here! Great pub.

I went to Maidstone by train for the Maidstone United v. Southport match and took in a few hostelries in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide while I was a long way from home. This was easily the best pub of the day, and I visited...More

Went here for a couple of drinks on an evening out and very quirky little pub, good atmosphere and idle stop off for some real ales. We will definitely return here for a stop off again before going into town.

Came here for a drink after a long long time from coming down for a drink. Met a lady behind the bar named cj and she was the friendliest most helpful barmaid I've ever met. I wish more pubs had employees like her. I'll be...More

I was after a real ale pub that had great beer but was also a suitable venue for my friends (inc wife) to have a few civilised beers prior to a joint birthday meal. NOT a Weatheroon's. This footed the bill to a tea. Yes,...More

We had to go into this pub! One of the oldest drinking establishment I'd ever seen! Friendly staff and a wonderful mix of different rooms to sit in - a must see if you're in Maidstone.

Not the easiest pub to find but convenient for stations which is a recommendation in its own right. The reason for this is not immediate even though, from the outside, it would appear to be a quaint old world pub. Crampt inside once you have...More
