I went down the Albion tonight for the first time in about 30 years with my brother and husband....it was a great nostalgic evening. The bar staff were very friendly and had some good recommendations- bear island pale ale is delicious. Although no longer frequented by goths - as back in the day - they have a duke box and someone had put in all the old hits from the Cure to New Order etc. Later they had a DJ...a great evening full of nostalgia and will definitely be back.

Such a lovely pub. The locals and the staff are so welcoming and one of the only places that do karaoke on a Friday night. Such a fun night xx

I am not one to write bad reviews, I always give someone the benefit of the doubt, but I have to in this instance, as I was so disgusted with the service in this pub.
My husband ordered a pint of Master Brew. He tasted it and it was sour. He commented that it was off but they insisted it was o.k as one of the ladies behind the bar had only changed the barrel in the morning. I went to have a taste and it smelt sour. I said it was off but they insisted it wasn't. There was a local sitting at the bar drinking the same and they asked him he said it was o.k and smelt ours but he said it was o.k but could be on the turn.
My husband drinks this beer often and we frequent many pubs and sample.many beers so we know when it is sour and off. I had a taste in the end just to ensure it wasn't right. It was awful. We experienced so much back chat that my husband wanted to take it away to get a sample to prove it wasn't drinkable. In the end they did change it for a different pint and that was fine. I had a lager and that was also nice. My husband went up to bar to order another drink and was ignored by the one lady. In the end I went up to got another drink, and was served by the other lady who had come back to the bar. I wouldn't recommend this pub to anyone because of the atrocious customer service. Isn't the customer always right. We didn't want an argument, we just wanted an off beer changed.

I did my best to ignore the smell of stale cooking oil in the pub, but made a mental note not to eat there.
I was told that "the Albion" is one of only two pubs in Maidstone with a jukebox. It does indeed have a jukebox, but the selection of songs is quite narrow, with a strong leaning towards country music. If you are a Dolly Parton fan, you'll be in heaven. I speculate that maybe Dolly once visited the pub when she was,on tour, and is forever remembered in this way.
The pub is very well located, opposite the museum, and from outside the building looks most attractive with its black beams and with the pristine white-painted upper storeys jutting out over the lower. I was disappointed by the interior, though. The attempt that has been made to spruce it up with modern touches and exquisite painted sentences has created an effect that is neither one thing nor t'other.

I dropped by after a morning shopping and a visit to the museum. This is a really nice local pub. I had a ploughmans - several good-sized chunks of cheese, a pile of crackers, bread, salad, pickles: only about a fiver. That plus a pint of Masterbrew and a nice squishy sofa were just what I was after. The pub is like the ploughman's - no pretensions but enjoyable and really good value.

Stopped by here on bank holiday Monday as they had a band playing classic rock songs. It's a lovely pub that's clean and tidy, the staff are very friendly. They have a really nice outdoor seating area with plenty of tables which I bet is brilliant on sunny days.
