About
For 9 months we were closed for repairs and nearly all our furniture and collections were in store. We’re back in the museum now, but are still struggling to unpack and set our displays up again. So, there’s not as much to see as normal - though the model fairground and the Battle of Tewkesbury gallery are fully open - but please call in to see us anyway. This is a good time to see the restored building, before it disappears behind the furniture. We’re open from noon to 3pm on: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (not 2 August) and Saturday Alternate Sundays (4/8, 18/8, 1/9, etc)

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Small museum, but with a couple of things I've never seen anywhere else. One is the condolences cards that used to be given out when someone died. And the other is a fabulous miniature fairground with mechanised rides. Really beautifully done. Very friendly volunteers too, with little recommendations for other things to do in the town.

Very interesting museum with a mixture of subjects. Covered local map fair and model fairground rides, battle of Tewkesbury and other stuff.
Must admit I struggled to follow all the comprehensive details of the battle of Tewkesbury but maybe I should have had more coffee before visiting,

This is my first visit to Tewkesbury and was wondering what to do in this quaint town. A local recommended the museum. So we went and were very surprised on how good the museum was. It was a midwifery exhibition which is not normally in my interest but this was fantastic so much information and we spent a good hour there. We also met the curator Maggie and she was an absolute delight and was able to answer all out questions. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested in visiting Tewekesbury.

This interesting and somewhat quirky museum should appeal to all members of the family, although there are some staircases in this ancient building that won't suit people who have mobility problems. The exhibits themselves are interesting, and, give a look at life in Tewkesbury both past and present. The building itself is the most interesting exhibit which should appeal to anybody who has an interest in the past. Well worth a visit.

This little museum is free and has quite a few displays from Roman artifacts, models of fairground rides, a room devoted to the Battle of Tewkesbury and others on local history throughout the ages. A must see!

Tewkesbury Museum is housed in the most amazing old half timbered building, which gives the place a great ambience, although the stairs might be tricky for those with mobility problems. There is a diverse range of exhibits covering lots of different aspects of Tewkesbury, with much social history covered.
There are things that children can play with which makes it interesting for them. There are changing, sometimes topical exhibitions and the staff (mostly volunteers) know their stuff and are friendly and chatty.
I really enjoyed my visit there. Entry was free (which is good) but we left a donation as we thought it was well worth it and they rely heavily on donations for the upkeep of the place.

Tewkesbury town museum is a little diamond. Positioned in the heart of the town and situated in a lovely ramshackle half timber building, it is full of well set out and interesting items. Covering a huge amount of history from Roman and before right up to present day. Items are displayed over 3 floors (some stairs are involved so be prepared) the small ish rooms give a cozy and intimate atmosphere for the visitor. The wonderful sloping floorboards and old oak panelling serve to add even more delight for anyone with a love of history and architecture. Staffed mostly by volunteers it is free to enter ( voluntary donations are great fully received). A real credit to the people who run it and to this lovely town.

This is a gem! Well-worth a visit if you are in Tewkesbury (or the area in general). There's plenty to see and explore inside the rambling old medieval house where this museum is located. Learn about history and the famous battle of 1471 which took place in Tewkesbury. Staff were very friendly! All in all a great day out!

I have seen some jaw dropping museums all over the world in ciro, siagon & gracelands in the us. This museum should be up there as one of the greats.
Just go you will not be disappointed.

The whole of Tewkesbury is something of a hidden gem, and the town's museum certainly fits that bill. It tells the tale of the local area, with wonderful displays and exhibits, well worth visiting.
