- TheFafferOlton, United Kingdom110 contributionsLovely massage. The rest, functional.Had a spa and massage with prosecco cream tea booked. We knew there would be a charge for towels, so I took my own. We had to pre-book food, so we booked the cream tea for around lunchtime. First, we had a massage, which was lovely. Then went to use the Facilities. They were all fine, worked well, hot tub was a good temperature. It just looks as though the place needs a lot of TLC. Even down to having the windows cleaned and a coat of paint. It felt like the local swimming pool. We were chatting to a member there who told us, for a little but extra money, to go the Belfry next time. It's much better. Then we went for the cream tea. But there were no scones. We were offered a piece of cake or a pastry instead. In the end they were able to give us a light lunch which was very tasty. Woukd I go back for a spa day? On my own, yes, but to treat someone, no.Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 8 January 2024
- Sophia W26 contributionsSpa day for BirthdayMy friend brought a wowcher spa day with tea and scones . That gave us access to the spa and facilities . We also had a 20 minute back massage and 10 minute facial included which was done by Zara and she was amazing 🤩 I throughly recommend . We had a beautiful day chilling by the pool , in the jacuzzi and steam room and we was very happy with what was on offer. I would definitely come back. We had to pay for hire of robes etc £20 but we got £10 deposit back . I will be back.Visited May 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 5 May 2024

- Bethany S2 contributionsZara & Amy 10/10!Me and my partner went for a couples massage today (24/09) with Amy & Zara. From beginning to end the service was fantastic. One touch of my back and Zara suggested I have a deep tissue treatment as I was one giant knot! My god did she get stuck in. It was definitely needed as I left feeling amazing and super relaxed. I will be coming back and asking for Zara 100% Amy did a great job with my partner relieving him of tension in his neck and back. We also had a wonderful facial which was well needed after a week in sunny Spain. Equal parts of relaxation and good conversation made for a lovely experience. Thank you ladies!Hello Bethany S, thank you for taking the time to send a review about your visit to Bannatyne Health Club & Spa - Solihull. This is definitely NOT a spa venue and certainly not a premium day!! it’s a gym and fitness club! My daughter and I purchased this “relaxing spa day” to celebrate the life of late my husband and her dad. Relaxing it certainly wasn’t! We arrived to a not very welcoming lady and proceeded to change into our swimwear to go to sit by the pool. There was a water aerobic class in progress to extremely loud disco music. The only place to sit were sun beds placed against the walls around the pool. It was so loud we decided to go to the Relaxation Room. Well again very disappointing. A small room with 6 beds with looked like pretty disgusting, all the beds someone had been to bed in them all night.... not at all something you would choose to relax on. With nowhere else to sit we decided to have lunch which was quite nice. Our treatments had been booked for the afternoon and thank goodness were the only redeeming feature of this very disappointing whole day. I have been to many spa days at several venues which have all been fantastic peaceful days. This Bannatyne Spa day should never be offered as a relaxing day and is one I would never return to or could recommend! Very disappointed.

Really bad customer service. This health club has absolutely no loyalty to their customers. My mum had been a member for nearly 10 years, when she had a shoulder injury she had to freeze her membership as she was unable to use any of the facilities. We emailed them requesting this but as we were two days after the "cut off" this was unable to take effect until the following month, we emailed as soon as my mum had her injury so couldn't do anything about the timing. This meant my mum had to pay for a whole month (£45!) without even being able to use the facilities. She gave her band to me to use to make use of the payment she had made (quite frankly daylight robbery) but I was stopped and sent away. Absolutely disgusting to take this money from a injured person who physically could not use the health club and had lost her income due to the injury she had-this was all explained at the time of freezing but was given no sympathy or understanding
from staff/ management whatsoever.
Often have problems with booking gym classes on the portal so have to call up and hot tub is regularly out of use, with no pre warning to members. Feels really unclean, showers often broken too. Always understaffed at the cafe bar area.

This is not a spa venue! It’s a local gym which has a few treatments. I had a polish scrub. The room was cold! The treatment was fast, felt rushed. Felt like I was on a conveyor belt! My friend had a massage. She said she felt rushed and also the room was really cold. The jacuzzi is really small. Fits 4/5 people max and we waited 30 minutes to get in...water was cold. not many deck chairs either to relax, rest or wait.
Showers are ok. But kept going hot and cold. No shower gel in the shower.
Changing rooms are ok. But only 1 changing room. - again a que to use this.
Wouldn’t recommend this place.

Like others have stated, spa days really shouldn’t be sold here. It isn’t equipped to offer the spa day experience and that isn’t the staff’s fault as such. They’re doing the best they can with a poorly advertised space that advertises more than it can provide.
The biggest problem is that besides the very small relaxation room, there isn’t actually anywhere to relax. They collect you for your treatments from a sofa in a communal space full of members coming in for classes and the gym. The cafe is just a simple leisure centre set up selling a limited menu (I believe this was even more limited due to broken equipment and a lack of staff) so it isn’t what we were expecting food wise either. Either way, this isn’t a spa day and shouldn’t be sold as one. I suspect they are only continuing to do so for the money, which is troubling when they must know by the amount of negative reviews that they, through no fault of their own, cannot deliver.

I’m not sure this could have been a less relaxing setting for a spa day. Immediately as you enter Bannatyne’s Solihull the place is cluttered and shabby. The open fire door out onto the bins area (swarming with flies on a hot day) put me off the thought of eating at the adjacent cafe. Reception staff were abrupt and unhelpful, informing us that spa treatments for one of our party had been ‘moved’ with little further explanation. The (2 sides of A4) forms you have to fill in are unnecessarily long and intrusive. Be prepared to pay a ridiculous £8 + £12 deposit to hire bathrobe, towel and flip flops and also to pay a refundable (I hope, as yet un-refunded) £2 to use a locker. The spa waiting area is chaotic and again cluttered. Lots of staff standing around gossiping not seeming to be doing much. Mini back massage and welcome facial was fine but unremarkable, the music that was playing in the room sounded more like call centre hold music than anything else. You also have access to the pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi which is also fine but quite dated and shabby. As a final note, I’d say that Bannatyne’s Solihull seems to be trying to be more a museum for posters than an actual gym and spa. I don’t think I’ve ever been anywhere where there were more signs telling me what not to do (I’m including airport immigration and a maximum security prison in this). Wouldn’t go back.

THIS IS NOT A SPA… honestly avoid this place, it’s filthy, the pool area is a public pool with old chairs/beds squashed up the corner. We went into the ‘relaxing’ pool area and had to endure an hours water aerobics class then kids swimming lessons, to go to get a drink you have to walk round to the public cafe in your worn out robe that you’ve had to pay an extra £8 to use plus £12 deposit!! The cafe itself is messy and very uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Our massages were nice but rushed.
I will NEVER set foot in one of Bannatyne’s spa’s again.

Well, this was the least relaxing experience I've ever had. I booked with a red letter day Christmas gift. Firstly, an 8 pound charge and 12 pound deposit for a towel, robe and slippers, no thanks. The jacuzzi was tiny and luke warm and we were soon joined by a workman cracking on with his tiling repairs a few inches away from my head. Very relaxing. The pool had aqua classes on through the whole visit so we couldn't fit in the pool to have a leisurely swim. The restaurant is an under staffed cafe right next to the main entrance which was cold, especially sat in your wet swimwear and damp towel. Another spa guest lent me her towel while i shivered, waiting for my massage. I asked reception for a towel, 4 pound charge. Again, no thanks. We wasn't told about the relaxation room but saw the signs, one radiator was broken so myself and my friend sat huddled around the heater on the wall. The treatments were good and therapists friendly but we left after our treatments because we were frozen and it was definitely not relaxing sat around the pool. We cancelled our food as other spa guests had been waiting a long time for their order. We went to the local pub for lunch with a fire to warm up. We spoke to the manager who clearly didn't care and needs a few customer service lessons. Avoid

I don't usually write reviews, but feel this one is necessary, and wouldn't want anyone to make the same mistake as we did and waist their money.
After booking the 'winter bliss Spa day' package through Groupon, my friend and myself were very much looking forward to a relaxing day at the 'Spa'.
However, as soon as we walked in we got the sense that it wasn't going to be the spa experience we'd imagined.
My friend and myself regularly do Spa days as treats for birthdays/Christmas/special occasions, giving us a fair few experiences to compare our day too.
The first thing that put us off was being charged £20 for a robe, towel, flip flops and a bag, with only £10 refundable at the end of the day, regardless of if you wanted to keep the bag and flip flops or not. This was stated before booking, however I do think it was very expensive, on top of paying for a spa package. It feels like this should be included.
Secondly, I think the advertising for a 'spa day' was highly misleading, when the facilities were the same standard, if not worse, than those you would find at your local Halo leisure centre. I can only describe the set up as some sun loungers put on the side of a pool in an old person's leisure centre. Yes, there was a hot tub, sauna, and steam room, all of which were full most of the time.
The sun loungers had to be positioned toe to toe so you couldn't even sit alongside the person you came with. And what made that even more awkward, was that through the day there was multiple aqua aerobics classes on, with music so loud you couldn't talk to the person next to you. You also weren't allowed drinks, apart from plastics bottles by the pool (which when being advertised a spa day, what pops to mind is sipping a glass of prosecco).
I'm very glad I didn't book the 'with food' package, due to the simple state of the cafe menu. And even for cafe standards, it was poor. I had a cheese and ham toastie ( ended up being just cheese as they had no ham). Which was more basic than one you would make at home. And my friend had eggs on toast with avocado, and the eggs were under cooked, and the avocado had obviously come from a freezer package (we did not complain at the time, as from what we'd already experienced we weren't expecting much, and got proven right).
The only upside to pur trip was our treatments. I had a facial, and my friend had a back massage - these were probably the only highlight of our day. And we left after we had our treatments.
I strongly believe the spa day packages need to be advertised differently, because if your expecting to go for a relaxing spa day, you will be bitterly disappointed.
They should be advertised as Spa treatments with use of the leisure facilities - not a 'winter bliss Spa day' as I'm not sure what part of it made it 'Winter Bliss' bar it being cold everywhere.
Don't waste your time if your planning a spa day.

Came here for a booked spa day which was an Xmas present off but a gift.com.
Due to covid had waited two years to attend.
When got here soon realised this is not a spa, it’s a health club/ gym.
The jacuzzi was not working, the swimming pool had constant classes booked so it was not relaxing, there were not enough lounge chairs around the pool, 3 of us sat on one and we were told we could not use our phones as pool side, which meant the book I had download could not be read.
The main toilets were down for maintenance also so this. The showers was cold.
The only good experience was the facial, the girl who carried it out was very good, but I feel I could have got a facial at many more places for less money and the atmosphere would have been more relaxing.
I have work all the way through the covid -19 pandemic and was desperate for this relaxation day and was not relaxed!!!!
I do not recommend to book this as a relaxing spa day, it’s not relaxing and ITS NOT A SPA.

Nothing like expected. Soon as enter car park uneven & full of potholes. Changing rooms definitely needed cleaning. Swimming pool was filthy around sides & too busy for size. Gym equipment is old & worn. Mostly cardio equipment. Cafe prices extortionate for what you actually get & food took forever to arrive. Rude staff. Manager even worse. Don’t know how to talk to paying customers.

Why on earth does the manager write the same comment to all poor reviews ? Does he press an auto button for this with a standard reply ? I haven't been there yet and was looking at booking a spa day but this lack of personal customer service has really put me off ! It's like being responded to by a robot with no interest in resolving issues ?
As a potential customer I would like to see what action has been taken for poor experiences as other places do ??

I think that for the price that people pay on Groupon for a spa day at Bannatyne's it lllseems to be good value for what is offered BUT I do feel that there have been occasions when too many people have been booked in for a spa day and because the club has not been able to provide the level of service that they would like to offer the visitor's their experience can be not what people would like.
Perhaps, a visit to a specialist spa provider would be a better idea.

I have a Bannatyne Spa day gift voucher and I can't decide which one to go to as the reviews I have read for spas in the Birmingham area have been so bad!
Suggestions please?

I went to the one in Solihull as I thought that would be a good choice but I was very disappointed especially with the all over massage which was in a freezing cold consultation room. I asked the ‘masseuse’ if she would turn the heating up but I really don’t think she knew how to work the controller! I did complain on the website and on the feedback form but had no reaponse. The spa was like one in a hotel. I was supposed to be pampered (it was a birthday present) so I hope you did find one and had a good time but I won’t go to one again by choice.
