The museum contains informative and colourful displays about the prehistory and Roman history of Ribchester, using many archaeological finds from the site, including coins, sculpture and metalwork. There are also remains of the Roman fort and baths outside the museum. Regular events and temporary exhibitions take place throughout the year. Pre-booked guided tours and educational visits can be arranged by email. Our next event is Iron Age Day on Sunday 10th September 2017. Come and find out about life in Celtic Britain!

considering its small size this is a surprisingly good little museum . The only disappointment was the main central display cabinet that was empty and in the same area was a replica ceremonial roman mask while the original has presumably gone off to the British...More

If you're in the area, Ribchester is well worth a look. There are bits of Roman times to be found all over town! This museum doesn't have a huge number of finds on show, but provides an impressively through description of Roman life in this...More

This little museum tells the story of the Roman history of Ribchester. The numerous local artefacts are well displayed and the lady at the front desk during my visit was very informative. There is also a small shop. The £3 entrance fee is good value....More

Ribchester was chosen by the Romans because it is besides the flowing River Ribble; it has fertile farmlands on both sides, and a perfect location for a garrison to be built. The museum is small, but very informative about the Romans living in this area....More

Excellent for a short visit with very informative exhibits. Children's activities were offered the day I visited. The layout of the museum makes the most of the small space and I found it a most interesting experience. The village itself is very beautiful and well...More

A very small but interesting museum in Ribchester. You get to see some of the artefacts from Roman times. The children also got to dress up as Roman soldiers. A fun family day out.
