Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We happened to be down the road for lunch so thought we would take a quick look on our way past. It is well preserved and in good condition, so worth a quick look. There is some basic information on notice boards which give you the background history. It’s also worth taking a look at the web site which gives more detail.
It will only take a few minutes to do this, the mill is only a short walk from the road where there is free on street parking. It doesn’t cost anything to visit, and it’s a short out and back walk from where the car is parked on nicely manicured grass. There is no path past the mill.
It’s not a big attraction, to put it mildly, but it’s worth a visit if you want to kill 10 minutes!

Its worth visiting once to have a quick look round the windmill and spend 5-10 minutes admiring the views, but thats pretty much it. We live nearby, went once, never bothered again. We were expecting there to be a circuit you could walk round but its nothing like that. The parking is roadside and its very limited. Burton Dassett hills is much bigger, with better views and much more parking.

This was part of our visit to Leamington Spa. Although it was hard to get there from the first time because of the sat nav's directions which took us to a private road,it was worth visiting.
The place was so quiet and peaceful, lots of butterflies and bees, the closest you can get to nature. There were handful of people there, some sunbathing ,some just sitting and enjoy the view, some coming just for the silence and the buzzing noises of the bees. We really enjoyed being there.

Only a short walk along a field path from layby parking. Obviously popular with dog walkers. It's in a prominent position on the edge of a hill, so good views of the surrounding countryside. Sadly the sails are not currently on it, but it's still an interesting building

Chesterton Mill can be seen for miles around (including from the M40). It is a local landmark.
I walk up to the mill every so often for the wonderful views. It also has an interesting history. I recommend it.

Fantastic location - go on a windy, sunny, partially cloudy day and you will get a great sense of its position. Did it ever turn ? Apparently so, never been inside - one day anyway its very impressive.

A seventeenth century windmill (that is open once a year and brought into working order) on a hilltop overlooking Warwickshire. Easy access from Windmill Hill Lane and limited (free) parking. A short walk to the windmill on grassy path, probably not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.

Can you get a photograph of your car and the windmill in the same shot?
Written 9 August 2023
Yes, but the windmill will be a small dot in the distance and you'll have a fence in the foreground

Hi can you walk to it from leamington spa town. Or is it mainly road and no paths.
Written 5 November 2020
Me and my friends cycled there and it took about 1 hour. If you are thinking about walking there i would bring a sleeping bag and a few comfy pillows because you are going to be in for a long night.

Is it possible to get up to the Windmill on a mobility scooter (appreciate you can go in it)?
Written 26 December 2019
yes you can, my partner is in a wheelchair and has no problems although it was a dry day & I imagine it might be different if it was wet

Hi. I live in Brisbane Australia and will be staying in Stratford-upon-Avon for a week next month, my first visit there. Will catch the train to Leamington Spa to spend the day there. Is it possible to walk from the town to the Chesterton Windmill?
What are the other 'Must See Attractions' while I am visiting for the day?
Thanks Arlene

No, it's too far to walk along main roads. You could get a bus from Leamington to Harbury and walk from there, or a taxi to get you to the lay by from which it's a 10 minute walk. Don't miss Charlecote Park while you're staying in the area.

Hi, Just want to know the nearby car park - Maps I can see some parking on Road - Is this free or I need to get a ticket for the same.
Also, windmill opening time .
Thanks
Pradeep

Parking in the lay by on the road is free. It's a 5 minute stroll up to the Windmill itself which you can walk up to at any time of day.

Can you use disposable BBQ's on the surroundings?
Written 17 August 2017
I should'nt think so as it's in the middle of a farmers field and a noted Roman site.
Written 18 August 2017
I have check for you but there isn't any public transport the best way is get taxi from leamington spa which is just 10 minutes away for the price of 10 pounds .
Here the address Windmill Hill Ln, Leamington Spa, CV33 9LB
