- Peter W1 contributionExcellent museum with very knowledgeable staffThe museum had an excellent selection of aircraft for the size. I was especially impressed with the Avro vulcan cockpit that has been painstakingly repaired by the members of the museum. One of the tour guides was kind enough to walk us through the function and history of the vulcan, accompanied by an ex RAF engineer who provided unrivalled detail into every component.Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 7 January 2024
- Darren M14 contributionsAwesome place for all the family. Definitely worth a visit. So much crammed into a pretty large space. Every turn and angle there is something new to see. Lots of hands on stuff, want to step into a cockpit or work out how the controls of a helicopter effect the rotor blades? Very well documented, you will learn something new.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 29 January 2024

- Emily DianaEssex, United Kingdom53 contributionsHighly recommend for all ages!An incredible museum which is far bigger than it looks from the outside. We spent a morning here but could have spent much longer! Unlike other museums there was so much to do for younger visitors, the 2 and 4 year olds in our party loved climbing in the cockpits, exploring the air raid shelters, watching the model railway and dressing up! Plus a huge amount of detailed information which my plane enthusiast Father enjoyed. Overall a wonderful visit, amazing value for money and would highly recommend. Staff were so friendly and knowledgeable.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 7 April 2024
- Wendy T14 contributionsA fantastic day out for all ages, at a very reasonable price. This place is incredible. We went there as a family to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday and had a brilliant day, Our two young grandsons had the time of their lives. There is so much to do and see, and unlike other air museums we have been to, you can get in many of the planes and touch the controls. There is a model railway, dressing up clothes and so many planes as well as displays of equipment and uniforms from war time. I think we could have stayed here for a week and still not seen it all! Plus it is so reasonably priced. If you are anywhere near Doncaster it is so worth a visit. I can't recommend it enough! Thank you to all the volunteers that give their time keep this great place going.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 8 April 2024
- GemZ77Manchester, United Kingdom783 contributionsGreat Place! On arrival to Doncaster in the pouring rain we stumbled across this museum and thought it would be a way to pass a couple of hours whilst the weather was bad. So glad we visited on the recommendation of the glowing reviews on here. The museum is much bigger than we expected and has some really interesting wartime exhibits. There's lots of different types of aircraft to see, both inside and outside, and even for non-experts/enthusiasts you can't help but be impressed by the size of some of the planes and helicopters. We enjoyed our visit more than we anticipated and the lady at reception gave us a lovely welcome. Many thanks!Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 12 April 2024
- zita bStaines, United Kingdom44 contributionsExcellent placeFound this place by chance. The gentleman who served us was very friendly and helpful. We found it very interesting. Was a bit like entering a tardis as so much in one area. Love been able to sit in some of the cockpits. My son thoroughly enjoyed himself. Was nice to see somewhere providing free feminine hygiene products in the toilets.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 5 June 2024
- Steve U1 contributionGreat day out, rain or shine. This is a fantastic ‘hidden gem’ for aviation enthusiasts and others. The museum is entirely volunteer run and I was amazed by what these volunteers have achieved. Based on a part of the former Doncaster Airport the museum has a varied collection of complete airframes both indoors and outside, along with a vast collection of displays, artefacts, models and information. There were a small number of cockpits that you were free to sit in, and I discovered that, from time to time, the museum holds ‘Open Cockpit Days’ when the majority of cockpits are accessible. There seemed to be an unending series of rooms each covering some aspect of aviation from the earliest days to the present, with excellent information and displays. We kept discovering rooms we’d missed. There’s also a small aviation shop with a good selection of models and a basic café. I visited as part of a family reunion and Alan at the museum, could not have been more helpful in supporting our event both with arrangements before we visited and during the day. From eldest to youngest everyone in our group found lots to do and see. We had fairly good weather and whilst some of the aircraft are outside, there’s lots to see even if the weather turns sour. It’s run by volunteers and their passion for what they’re doing clearly shows.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 1 July 2024

Well worth a visit if you or family members are fascinated by airplanes. My 2year old daughter was fascinated with the cockpit interiors, she loved flipping the switches and playing with the levers and control yokes. As did her older brothers (8,11).
Different cockpits are open on different days, so the kids enjoy going back every few months.
Some nice insight into the planes and other aviation related items and it’s a great place to spend a couple of hours, and unlike most things these days it’s value for money, £3.50 for kids!

We bought the family pass for about £15 for our adventure. The young children loved it with plenty to climb on and explore. The attraction is both indoors and outdoors with plenty to see. The exhibits are Covid safe with lots of sanitizer stations around. Masks to be worn inside currently but that is subject to change with government regulations. You can see a massive range of planes, engines, helicopter and ground vehicles. Easy access for pushchairs and wheelchairs alike. Small shop offering a range of toys and gifts too. We really enjoyed the experience. Make sure you get the correct postcode for Dakota Way off the website for your sat nav. Great day had by all.

Visited with my 10 year old children. It was their idea to go.
Arrived around 11 and it wasn’t busy. Cost less than £14 for the three of us. The lady taking the money was lovely and explained about the one way, social distancing and cleaning of cockpits prior to using. Face masks had to be worn.
We only stayed a couple of hours. The children liked to view the exhibits but not read the texts. It would have been a longer visit if they had.
There were a mixture of exhibits inside and out and areas to have a picnic if you’d taken on.
I’d recommend going to have a look around. We’ll be going back again.

What an amazing experience! There is so much to see and do you will definitely need a second visit. A superb collection of aircraft memorabilia spanning the history of flight. The sights, sounds and smells evoke a sense of nostalgia and keep you interested to learn more. The entrance fee is well worth it considering the amount of time and effort that has gone into making this museum a must visit. Can't wait to return and discover more fascinating aviation facts.

Visited here today together with husband and grandsons aged 10 & 12. I was impressed from the start as you could buy a family ticket for £18, bargain. Next, the amount of displays and memorabilia are excellent and the boys were able to sit in numerous cockpits which they thoroughly enjoyed. A room with a plane and a helicopter simulator in was real fun. Later we were able to buy a drink and cake, sit inside and recap, ready to carry on and see even more exhibits. It’s an excellent place to visit, I’m sure we will be back again.

A fantastic museum, and well worth the trip up. Lots to see, some unique airframes, and some aircraft you would have seen before, but with interesting stories. Each aircraft (or part of) is accompanied by boards with a wealth of information, and areas are laid out to tell the history of early flight in the area, wartime activity, civil flying and a very well put together Falklands War section which is worth a good chunk of your time.
Anyone with a particular interest in helicopters is very well served, with the museum being home to many different types and the Yorkshire Helicopter Preservation Group collection.
While being less full of airframes than the other buildings, the Building 21 display is fascinating and is somewhere I could have spent a lot longer than I did on this trip if I had more time.
Alongside the assembled aircraft is a brilliant array of engines, components, information, and more aircraft related paraphernalia than you could shake a stick at.
I‘ve made a bit of a personal mission to visit a lot of aircraft museums this summer, but this one stood out as the one that put the biggest smile on my face as I walked around it. You can feel the passion and interest put into the whole site by the volunteers and exhibit owners, I’ll definitely be back next time I’m passing Doncaster.

A really interesting and extensive collection of aircraft and military vehicles. The one main hangar is impressive, absolutely huge and packed full of planes, helicopters and various other flying machine components. The attraction has a friendly and passionate owner who clearly loves maintaining this place and showing it off to the world.

This museum is absolutely full of aircraft and it history, with some opportunities to sit in cockpits and dress up. There’s a Flight stimulator and a few buildings with history displays of the nations and South Yorkshire’s history in the wars. It’s a very nice trip and has a shop and places for picnics. The staff were very nice and approachable, hopefully visit again sometime.

For a measly £6 •50 per adult you get to see loads of planes ,memorabilia from wartime and exhibits. A lovely day out rain or shine. You can get a hot or cold drink and cake or crisps which you can eat at picnic tables or take a picnic well worth the money .
