About
Doncaster’s elegant Mansion House has dominated the High Street for over two hundred and fifty years. It is one of only three Mansion Houses remaining in the country, along with those in London and York. Whilst the Mansion Houses of London and York provided accommodation for the mayor as one of their functions, the Bristol Mansion House was built solely as a home for the mayor. Doncaster Mansion House is situated on High Street in the heart of the Town Centre. Visit our website which is listed in the description for details of open days and more.

Doncaster Mansion House offers a special treat of Afternoon Tea, currently once a month, and it is only available if you book (01302 734032). This experience is a real old fashioned 'proper' afternoon tea, and it certainly rivals any of the so-called 'posh' treats I've had in London and elsewhere, at a fraction of the cost (£12 pp). The staff are very friendly, pleasant and helpful, making all the customers feel like celebrities for the occasion, the setting is really splendid, and the food - well, what can I say? All freshly made, delicious selections, and plenty for the largest appetite - with the offer of 'take home' boxes for anything you can't actually manage to eat at the time! These days one votes with one's feet, and I'm not easy to please - I've now been twice, and have requested that the table be reserved for me on a regular basis - that should say it all! Well worth considering if you time your visit with an available date.

Not to be missed. A fantastic historic building with lots to see and learn. One of the three original Mansion houses with London and York.
A working building and part art gallery and museum. The georgian/victorian kitchens are amazing. Lovely rooms and great hall.
Home of the Ceremonial Mayor.
Beautiful building for use/ hire....exhibitions, functions, weddings etc
Recently went to a Steampunk event, first time, very interesting, also regular afternoon tea dances. Pop next door to Tourist Office for information.
A must for locals and visitors alike.

My friend and I had afternoon tea, which was superb! The afternoon tea was delicious and the range of teas and coffees was quite astounding. The staff were really attentive, and what was particularly wonderful was one was a serving councillor and treated us to stories and the history of the building and specific rooms. There was also a pianist which was a really nice touch - he was really talented and worth visiting for that alone! The building is absolutely beautiful and if you ask the staff they will tell you all about it. The price of afternoon tea is an absolute bargain for how yummy it is, how well the staff treat you and the beautiful surroundings. Doncaster is so lucky to have a Mansion House, and it's so accessible being right in the town centre. I encourage everyone to visit; I will be taking my mum next time she comes up!

Another lovely afternoon tea here. Just enough sandwiches with lots of different fillings and loads of yummy cakes. Will not need to eat again for a while! Service is fab and all food extremely fresh and tasty. This is fifth visit and will be back. Just a pity its only monthly but makes it feel more of a treat.

The Mansion House in Doncaster is very special. There are only two other Mansion Houses in the UK in York and London.
Once a month you can have afternoon tea in one of the beautiful rooms of the house complete with chandeliers.
A delicious tea is served on delicate crockery comprising of five different sorts of sandwiches, scones and cream, mini Black Forest cakes, lemon cakes, carrot cakes and mini cupcakes- all freshly made.
They do provide boxes for you to take home the cakes as no one in the room could eat all that was served.
Speciality coffee and tea were in plentiful supply. The herbal teas and flower infusions in glass teapots were delightful. I had not seen these before and will not say more so as not to spoil the surprise.
At the moment the price is £12 per person and when I think of what I have paid to have afternoon tea elsewhere, especially in London this is fantastic value.
Booking is essential (01302734032) and it was busy, but as the rooms are very large it created no problems.
The staff are very welcoming and friendly and made us feel very special. It won't be long before I will be booking again. Thank you the Mansion House of Doncaster.

Came here on an open day. Very nice tour with lots of history. The tour was free. The Mansion house is 1 of only 3 in the UK (the others are in York & London)

I was taken there by the family as a treat for my Birthday
It is a beautiful, elegant place , ideal for afternoon tea
The service was very good, and prompt, and the table laid well
The tea was well presented and looked inviting
The assorted sandwiches were nice and fresh, and the scones were lovely
I would have liked an assortment of dainty fresh cream cakes, but the cakes I had were nice.
There was a pianist in the next room, but He didn't play while we were eating, which would have been nice.
However, it was a thoroughly nice experience, and a memorable way to celebrate my birthday
