We love visiting churches, large and small. Since Chipping Campden was one of the more important villages in the Cotswolds, they have a little larger church with some impressive marble statue/tomb structures for their VIP's.

You can almost feel the presence of the parishioners who have worshiped in St. James for hundreds of years.

Lots to see here. Excellent small church Gothic architecture, ancient embroidered vestments and altar hangings, tombstones in the floor, tombstones in the churchyard, even a ring necked pheasant strutting about.

This is located near Broadway Tower and is worth a short visit when one has the time. Although already 500 years old, it is still pretty well preserved.

Tip--the brasses in the chancel floor are what make the church really special. You may miss them if they are covered up with heavy red carpeting--the church wardens didn't object when we delicately raised the carpets to see the 15th Century brasses underneath. Just replace...More
