Firstly Heaton Park where Tree tops is based is lovely. Two parks, cafe, lovely walks. You can book an activity here and make a full day of it.

My concerns specifically refer to the tree top nets.
Staff are fab there was only two working but they were both polite and conscientious.
The issue is the way the nets are set out there’s blind spots where you can not see your children. In particular there’s an area with large balls but there’s only 3 balls so it seems to turn into a bun fight. My son was attacked by three older boys and we literally couldn’t see or hear anything. After that my husband accompanied our son and he was hurt by other children more than once even with my husband there. There’s also tree houses 30 foot in the air with windows that are not covered by a safety net so if your child climbs out a window they would fall 30 feet. It’s just not safe, I think it’s a combination of poor design, no staff on the nets and lack of parental supervision.

Wednesday 30th August 2023.
I booked the Full Trek at Manchester Zip World for my 12 year old son. This involves doing the mini trek (for which Zip World's website and literature advises you allow 1 to 2 hours) followed by the Full Trek (for which Zip World's website and literature advises you allow 2 to 3 hours) I even contacted Zip World by phone before hand to confirm that the course should take the advertised time.
My son complete BOTH in under half an hour. £41 for less than 30 minutes! What a rip off. We ask if he could go round again but this was refused. I phoned Zip World while I was there but the manager was unavailable. I'm still waiting for a call back.
My advice. AVOID. Try GoApe in stead. In truth, the course is not as challenging but you get a full hour and it's cheaper.
I was going to try some of the other Zip World challenges and locations but this has put me right off.

Addendum.
Since writing the above I was contacted by Zip World management offering apologies and a chance for my son and a friend to return for a repeat experience free of charge. I thought this a generous off.
I would still caution against thinking this is a 3 hour experience. It clearly isn't.

Very good experience, lovely staff too! Demi was very kind and helped me through when the fear took over without any judgement and she sympathised and related to how I felt. I'd go again and definitely recommend to anyone looking for a fun summer activity

I used to always pass this place when we went heaton park but as it was the kids holidays and the wife was away i decided to take them out. Im so glad we went here, what an absolutely great venue, me and the 2 kids 7&11 loved it. The staff were welcoming and patient (harder than it looks some sections). Being a little rainy not too many people were there so we basically had 5 people on the whole course, some sections was a little slippy but it added to the experience falling off.

We booked a children's party and unbeknown to us toughmudder was the same day, due to lots of parking issues we were over an hour late when everyone finally got there. The staff were amazing and accommodated for the long wait. Putting our mind at ease that no matter what time guests eventually got there they would ensure the party went perfectly. The staff were amazing, kind and caring. Even when I got worked up about the delay they eased my worries and we went on to have the most perfect birthday party ever. Would recommend highly and we will definitely go again 👍 if only there were more people in the world like the staff here the world would be a far better place ❤

My daughter came here for her 14th birthday alongside 4 friends, and she had a brilliant time. She absolutely loves Treetop Trek and this is the third year she’s come for her birthday. A special thanks to Anna for helping one of the girls with her nerves during the trek, she was wonderful and really put P at ease! We will definitely be back again soon!

Regards,

L

Me and my partner had an experience day voucher we needed to use and decided to do something different and we had never heard of Treetop Trek despite living in Manchester but decided to give it a go. After reading the reviews I was worried because me and my partner are in our 20s and I was concerned the day out might be catered too much towards children. Fortunately, I was wrong! First we did the Treetop Nets which is essentially large trampoline-like nets throughout the forest. There are also some rooms with huge balls to throw and kick around and some chute-like slides which were really fun. This part of the park is definitely aimed more towards the children and the novelty wears off pretty quickly but the staff (all of whom were extremely professional and friendly all day) recommended visiting Heaton Park Cafe to break the day up which we did. Later in the day we were booked onto the Treetop Trek which you do in groups. Our guide, Luke, was really helpful and polite. There is a mini trek to get you into it and then a larger trek. Despite there being children in our group I still had lots of fun and struggled with lots of the obstacle courses. This part took about an hour in total. Lots of our friends were also interested after seeing our social media so I would recommend whether you have kids or not. Some important notes: it was a relatively quiet day as we didn't go during the half term and Parklife festival was on at the park but this meant we had more of the Treetops to ourselves which we were happy with. Also, I can't comment on money for value as it was a voucher we were gifted as mentioned. However, I would definitely return and recommend it to anyone looking for an alternative day out.

A wonderful experience despite the horrible weather in both the nets and the treetop trek. The staff were outstanding, cannot thank them enough. They joined in with the kids on the nets and suzie helped my wife when she had a bit of a wobble on the treetops. Cannot recommend enough

Absolutely brilliant. Couldn’t fault it at all. Staff were so friendly, kind, engaging and encouraged the kids. Courses were fantastic. Our large group were smoothly accommodated seamlessly throughout the afternoon. Thank you for making this trip so memorable.
