Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent Ancoats food tour. Having been on many similar tours, this one would be up there with the best experience we have had. John, our guide, was very friendly and had encyclopaedic knowledge of the foodie spots in the area and of the history and architecture you pass along the way. With regard to value for money we stopped in five places for a variety of interesting cuisines. There was plenty of food, we certainly didn’t leave hungry and indeed left with dessert to have later!

I booked this for my family visiting from Ireland and it was absolutely brilliant. John combines the history of Manchester with incredible food and great craic! We had a fabulous day and having been on other food tours in Manchester, this is absolutely the best!

I have lived in Manchester for over 10 years and I have learned SO much about this city thanks to John. He has such a wide range of knowledge about Manchester and I loved his delivery.
And as for the food!! I rediscovered some old favourites and found some new places that I will definitely try again.
I strongly recommend this food walk to everyone who visits Manchester, it’s the best way to get to know the city!

I booked the tour for friends visiting from the USA but those of us living in Manchester got so much out of it too! I’ve lived in the city for 23 years and discovered so many fascinating facts I didn’t know. John has a plethora of knowledge about the city as well as a huge passion for it - and a huge passion for food too. The perfect combination!!

This was a Christmas gift from friends. We chose to go on the Easter weekend as the weather had been forecast to be good. A great choice as apparently Bank Holiday weekends are often the least subscribed. (Sorry John, maybe that won’t be so now!)
John was a brilliant guide. He is knowledgeable and passionate about Manchester and we went into 6 places which we may not have tried had we not been guided. Food was great and we highly recommend this tour, both for those new to Manchester and even for those who have lived here all their lives.

The tour started at 11.30am on a beautiful sunny chilly Saturday in Manchester. My partner and I have both lived in the city for ten years or so and so wondered if this would tell us anything we didn’t know ... it really did.
For the next three hours or so we ate a wonderful range of food, listened to tonnes of interesting Manchester facts and history, and gained tips of other places to go to in the city.
I couldn’t recommend this tour enough. We finished it very full, and with new eyes on the city around us.

Last night’s walk was amazing! I’ve spent hours since getting home telling as many people as possible they should give it a go! I’ve lived all my life in the vicinity but John is incredibly knowledgeable, great fun, engaging and we learnt so much….so much so my friend is bringing her teenage boys on the food walk to learn more....
I discovered places in the City I never knew existed.....can't recommend it highly enough and truly believe that John as the guide made it so I'd definitely give any of his walks a go!

A great way to lunch! Five really tasty courses, at least two of them in places I would not have set foot in from the look of the outside, and all well worth the visit: soup, curry, SA, pizza and ice cream. All wrapped up in a knowledgeable and entertaining commentary from John (no relation) on this lively quarter of one of the world's great cities. We were a group of friends from all over England who hadn't met for a while, and there was plenty of opportunity to catch up. 5/5 on every measure.
