The unique design means that none of the 760 seats are more than nine metres from the circular stage, with seats placed all around the auditorium, giving views from all angles. The Great Hall surrounds the Theatre, and this houses The Round restaurant, Bar Exchange, the Craft Shop and exhibitions, the Education Lounge and workshops, the Information Point, the Mezzanine Gallery exhibitions, as well as Friday evenings' FREE entertainment SPECIAL FX.And we're open on a Sunday too! With brunch served in our Great Hall cafe and free entertainment during the day.

Lovely atmosphere in a sumptuous building with a good lunch deal on,which we decided to take advantage of. Prices are standard city prices and my friends meal of soup and sandwich was lovely. Unfortunately the cakes we had were just sweet and didn't really have much of a flavour. Luckily the main course had filled us up. I would definitely... More

Called in while in Manchester last Sunday, the cafe is excellent, they make very good coffee and the soup sandwiches and light meals are outstanding and very good value with comfortable seating. Far better than going to one of the high street chains for lunch. The building is also quite spectacular.

This is marvellous place and is situated within the walls of the vacuous but deeply impressive royal exchange building. The theatre is like a satellite and is one of the best examples I know of theatre in the round with productions of a high quality. For older people there may be hearing difficulties as the actors move around but all... More

The building is interesting with an old façade and contemporary interior, and this theatre in the round presents many excellent works in an interesting setting

No production of any play is going to please everybody. But the Royal Exchange has a very high standard - I honestly can't say I've ever seen anything 'bad' here. ( Things I didn't like, that's different.) The building is fascinating and the catering above average: it's a decent place to meet for lunch or a drink even if you... More

Went to the Royal Exchange tonight and requested my tickets for tonight. However I apparently had inadvertently booked for next weekend. Without batting an eyelid the very helpful ticketing agent reassigned my tickets to tonight - at no charge. Very very impressed. The play was incredible. Highly recommended. As for the the previous review the play depicts a balanced view... More

What a total waste of time and money, I expected the play to be about the Code Breaking at Bletchley Park but almost the whole play was given over to Alan Turings homosexuality. I left very disappointed.

It was a real privilege to see this wonderful production with Maxine Peake and Ben Bratt. We had seats one row from the front 'couches' on the stage level and at times were only a few feet away from the cast. This is theatre in the round and it's deceptively roomy (I believe there are 750 seats), but when looking... More

Have been to the Royal Exchange Theatre several times and it has never disappointed. A unique style theatre with something for everybody. Great views of the stage from all seating areas and excellent performances. Staff are very helpful and polite; cafe inside the theatre where food (hot and cold) and drinks can be purchased at reasonable prices. Definitely recommend a... More

This is hands down, no questions asked, the best theatre I have ever been too outside of London. Make sure you sit on the ground level, and you will have an experience that will last a lifetime :)
