About
At Castlefield Gallery (Est. 1984), we make new art possible. We are dedicated to the advancement of contemporary visual art. We are artist facing. We work with artists and creatives in Greater Manchester and beyond, at all career stages. We support them to develop their practice and careers, and to find ways not just to make art, but to make a living. We do this through: our gallery, and its free exhibitions and events that are open to all; through tailored career and practice development support; through our 200-strong artist Associates scheme; through the provision of low-cost studio and project space; through commissions and co-commissions; and through collaboration with universities, including annual graduate programmes that provide mentoring, coaching and more.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Small non imposing gallery. A few excellent exhibits and a few not in my opinion. Courteous and helpful staff. Thoughtfully laid out. Good exposure for contemporary artists and their work.

Not a very big gallery.
A hidden gem.
No longer than a 20 minute visit - unless there happens to be an artistic video display on.
No gift shop.
Good for transport.
Not great for parking - parking meters and often busy.

This gallery is a reason in itself to visit Manchester. Wonderful space and exciting, engaging, thought provoking work on show. People who run the gallery are friendly and informative. Felt welcomed. Altogether an enriching experience.

Was at the Gallery on Sat 12th April with my little girl. It was our first visit. We were greeted at the door and shown downstairs to where the "artist talk" was happening. It was very good, inspiring and interesting. The space though is amazing, We felt very comfortable in the place and my 10 year old daughter also felt comfortable walking around on her own upstairs while I listened downstairs.
Where the Gallery is situated is brilliant too, genius.
I want to exhibit at the Gallery and am going to apply to do so. It really is a beautiful and accessable place. Well done all involved... Graham.
