Contact is Manchester's provocative and innovative performance venue...

Contact is Manchester's provocative and innovative performance venue situated in the heart of the city's busy Oxford Road Corridor (a short walk from both Manchester Museum and The Whitworth). We present professional theatre, dance, spoken word, music, cabaret, live art and comedy across our three spaces (300 seat auditorium, 70 seat studio theatre, and downstairs cabaret space) and in unusual locations throughout Greater Manchester. We also have a fantastic cafe - Contact Lounge - serving coffees and teas to take away, a wide range of wines, beers, and spirits, and a lunch menu created by the Veggie Cafe (food served Mon-Fri, 11am to 4pm). With Free WiFi, it's the perfect spot for meeting, chatting, and general lounging.

Great value lunch

Had lunch here with colleagues. Food was tasty and plenty of it. Staff were smiley and pleasant. Food very cheap. I recommend their soups.

It was my first time here yesterday and I can already tell you this venue occupies the pole position in my list of best venues in Manchester. Everything about it was just great. The staff was really nice and welcoming, the foyer is spacious and quite a nice spot for little exhibitions or shows. The bar is really spacious and... More

My friends and I went here for a poetry evening but found parking difficult. Being ten minutes late, we felt it fair enough not to be allowed in the theatre, as the event had already begun. So we went to the lounge and were served with hospitality and opted for special offer drinks. We were allowed in the theatre after... More

The contact lounge situated at rear of the building is a little gem... A great selection of hot and cold drinks, professional and friendly staff. Smiley and chatty and more than willing to help with any enquiry. Worth a visit and while there look at the upcoming events it's an amazing little venue that is growing... So show your support.

Contact is a pretty unique, perhaps ugly building. Crazy youth centre style type thingy might be a good description. That said, the theatre itself is brilliant. I watched a very harrowing play here and you felt as if you were part of the action. I'd have no hesitation watching another play here from a venue perspective.

This is a very sad review to read and not one that outlines the best of the veggie cafè. I was a student at the University in the 00s, and would often spend my lunch times in the old venue, Good quality wholesome, home cooked food, in a simple yet charming, no frills environment, with a very personal service. You... More

Went to the Veggie cafe for lunch here today, and was excited as a vegan it is quite difficult to eat out.... so thought a vegetarian cafe would be more able to cater for me. The menu looked great. The first thing I did was ask the man working if any of the cakes were VEGAN friendly, he asked on... More

Contact theatre is in a quirky building, tucked away off Oxford Road next to the University. When you pass the student union and look between the buildings, you'll notice some strange turrets emerging towards the skyline as if someone has misplaced part of a castle - that's Contact! It has a lovely, relaxed atmosphere and a great little cafe/bar, open... More

Thanks a lot for your kind words about the venue, the work we do with young people, and the shows you've seen as part of our festivals - Contacting the World and Afrovibes. It's very much appreciated. We're glad you've enjoyed yourself and look forward to welcoming you back soon. Kind regards, Barry Priest Senior Marketing Officer More

Great charity that supports young people and puts on some great productions. The soup in the veggie cafe is always amazing - parsnip and pear, who knew?

Such as bad establishment, with poor management and drinks are a complete rip-off! I would never ever go again, it ruined the gig I went to, the bouncers were total idiots to my friends as well, although this may not have bee contact's fault. Still, worst experience ever, dont go!
