It was absolutely wonderful. I joined the Grand Tour of the gallery and a very knowledgeable lady took us round various artwork and explained the artist and picture. I really enjoyed it and recommend others to take the tour which is free. Loved the tour

You really can't go wrong with the art you will see for free (suggested donation £3) - some beautiful paintings you will recognise and very interesting ones that aren't as well known. Friendly staff and useful descriptions by each piece that will get you thinking more about what you're looking at.

Lukewarm display of a handful of famous artists. Also some dross that remains in the collection long after the tastes of Mancunian benefactors parted ways with the verdict of art history. COVID restrictions exercised with officious efficacy. Overall rather joyless.

It was very surreal to go through the gallery in a mask but made the experience even more exciting! We only had the chance to view the main collection, and it is surprisingly varied and very interesting to take in and contemplate! Would love to come back to see some of the modern art exhibitions!
