Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

曼彻斯特的节奏不快也不慢,可以好好感受一下这个城市的人文特色。唐人街比想象中小,也不太好拍,但很多比较有名好吃的中餐馆川香锅、翠华,还有奶茶等等
Transportation:
When you arrive at Piccadilly Station by train, there’s a free bus available that can take you to all the major attractions in Manchester. I recommend purchasing a railcard on Trainpal, and by entering the code RC777E, you can get a 20% discount. Many locals in the UK are unaware of this discount, so I highly recommend it. If you’re unsure how to use it, feel free to message or comment—just sharing!

We visited the Chinatown area for the new year festivities but were disappointed as they fell far short of our expectations. Maybe having experienced the celecrations in the far east a few years ago our expectations were unrealistic.....but, nevertheless, we were disappointed

This area can be considered a little rundown at times but I visit pretty much once a week and enjoy my time there.
The reason I go is either to have dinner in one of the excellent far eastern restaurants or to shop.
There are several great supermarkets where you can get things you can’t get in your normal supermarkets. It’s really good fun and the staff very friendly indeed.

I tend to visit this area of town at least once a week as it has an awful lot going for it. Not only are there some excellent authentic Chinese restaurants but there’s some great shops as well.
The supermarkets are an education just to walk round. Here you can buy absolutely everything you need for a good Chinese meal and there’s some Really good places there.
There is also a couple of casinos and of course the famous arch. Definitely worth half an hour of your time to have a walk around at least.

Chinatown is billed as the third largest in Europe/UK. Think that oversells it a bit. Lots of restaurants and saw about 3 food supermarkets which is great but doesn't have the buzz you associate with chinatown reputation. Not when we went in September anyway. Attractive entrance, close to hotel and we bought loads of Asian food but didn't see other types of shops or much life.

We went to Chinatown during a short break in Manchester. What a lovely part of town. In the end we visited a bakery, a bubble tea room and a dessert room. All authentic and of good quality. A great part of town.

I used to walk to and from work through this area and always found it a bit grim. Apart from the Arch, you would hardly know you're in Chinatown and it does cover quite a wide area. In fact, one of my favourite Chinese restaurants is outside Chinatown, in Cross Street, The Rice Bowl.
I can also recommend Happy Seasons on Faulkner Street. If you want to buy authentic Chinese food, there is a big supermarket and of course there is a casino and Long Legs lap dancing club, apparently!

I’m not certain how this can be called a town. It’s a small block of mostly Chinese eateries. The attempt to create a Chinese garden out of the carpark is odd. It’s also mostly destroyed. There is the one decent arch. A few trees with fairy lights. Nothing else. We went on a Saturday night. Every other area of Manchester was bustling with life. Not here.
We did eat here, which was bog standard Chinese you can get from any takeaway.
Left here and headed straight to the Northern quarter, much more lively.

I had been here many many years ago and remember it as an exciting fabulous experience with gorg food. Now a days it seems like there are much fewer restaurants and just the impressive arch. Maybe someone local could advise better but for me I think there are not as many restaurants as there once was.

I take issue with a number of reviews posted here. Firstly most of the restaurants are not buffet restaurants serving English food, that is utter nonsense. There are about a dozen proper Chinese restaurants, some if which don't even have menus printed in English, amongst the best are Yang Sing, Pacific, Little Yang Sing and a couple of decent Thai places. Secondly there are two small but perfectly fine supermarkets, and having lived in Central Manchester for many years, i can say with confidence that they are the best place in the city centre to buy fresh fruit, veg, fish and meat. Where else in a city centre can you buy live lobster or live crab? Not M&S Simply Food that's for sure!
I don't know what people expect, to see a Dragon Parade every hour? Rickshaws? Maybe a Slow Boat sailing past?
Manchester's China Town is actually the second largest in Europe, but that doesn't make it big, it is small, like most Chinatowns! It's like complaining that New Yorks famous little Italy is too small because it is only two blocks!
The gate is interesting, the car park in the middle is handy and it is a place of work, business, and eating. If you are expecting fire crackers, a Great Wall or maybe a few clay warriors you will be disappointed, if you are expecting good food, a different vibe and some good small supermarkets you will be happy.
Personally having lived basically next door to it for 3 years before I moved, I think it is a fabulous part of Manchester.

Can you recommend a child friendly restaurant that opens early evening, with good food reviews and can cope with gluten free requests?
Written 9 February 2019
MEI DIm and Young Sing are pretty traditional and have wast menus with plenty of choise. With regards gluten free Chinese do not usually mention on the menus but you can speak with waitresses and I believe they know best. Please note that on 10th of Feb Chinese culture starts celebrating New Year and probably for one week opening times might be affected. One very good and traditional Chinese restaurant-GLAMOROUS is located outside of China Town-short walk from city centre.

Ocean Treasure comes out top of an online poll. I'm not one for classiest, but more for the cheap and cheerful, so I'm not the best person to answer! But good luck.
