On Bridge Street, follow down the stairs which at least allows you to look into the bar (to the right) to see whether it is too crowded or too quiet - depending on your mood. Small counter at the end of the tiled room after you turn right at the bottom of the stairs. Very good range of craft beers... More

Easy to miss, but friendly staff. Good cosy atmosphere to have a pint with a mate. Drink prices about average

I used to enjoy this place for a real ale in a quirky place but after tonight i won't be going back again. Got a drink about 1:20am as they rang the bell for last orders. £6 a pint. 15 minutes later security want to kick us out. The bar advertises as closing at 2am but we felt pressured to... More

Hey, sorry you felt you were forced out but feel that you are misremembering the events that occurred. You entered the bar after the first bell for lasts orders had been rang, when you approached the bar the staff member that served you informed you that you were ordering within the 'last orders' period so you were aware we were... I really like places like this. Quirky, odd, not polished, but full of character; a really individual bar. Popped in for a quick visit late in the afternoon on a midweek day, it wasn't busy but certainly not empty. Picked a fairly standard Pale ale and discovered only after we sat down that they have a large range of spirits... More

Discovered this place a few years ago because the pub near by was rammed! Now I'm a big fan...me and the Mrs often go out of our way to go when were in Manchester. Great atmosphere and interesting history as well....check out the old photos on the wall if there still there?

hard to find as its tucked underground via one narrow door but was a real find. Old cellar, tiled walls, no music, basic wooden seating. A proper drinking den. Huge selection of good beers and bar snacks.

We visited yesterday on a recommendation . It was pretty quiet but what would you expect for a wed lunch ! The choice of real ales and gin was great and the setting its self is fantastic and seeped in history. I imagine at the right time the atmosphere is well worth visiting for.
