Very serene place. Good collection of books. Ample space to sit, read and spend time with books. Good multimedia services. Very nice lineup of clubs and workshops.

Majestic building with an amazing collection of books. The reading room, or rather reading dome, is an experience in it self. Do keep silent as it is very well used.
A special note to the hostess at the entrance who told us many stories about the library and it's surroundings.

I came to the library in order to do some family research. At the door I asked where I could get a membership card and I was taken to the information desk.

I was given useful information on how to get the most from my visit. I was able to do 2 hours of work in quiet, pleasant surroundings.

A really great experience largely because of very friendly staff.

I really impressive building. And also one of the few cultural attractions that is open on a Monday and Tuesday, when the museums are all closed!

Quietly enter the reading room as try and hold your breath as you look up, a place where students come to study or just to read the daily newspaper. But please look up and read the beauty of this room. Also take a walk on the other floors and browse the books, and find a pop up gallery

Really helpful staff. We were able to access a variety of local history records in a short space of time.

The library is a lovely building and easily demonstrates it's grand history. The staff are very helpful, the café functional and the visit was well worth it.

17th Jan 22 : What a place to have in the middle of the heart of Manchester! the outside is just incredible, I went to Manchester Central Library, I went for no other reason but to go and explore! As soon as I arrived of course the Metrolink is right on hand that is easily accessible to multiple destinations, The outside of the building is just incredible a building from 1930 that looks new but also has the old feel to it and seems to be one of a kind and stand out on what is St Peters Square.
Upon entering the entrance to Library Walk I was greeted by beautiful mosaic floors making out flowers that seem to contrast with the reflective mirror-like ceiling above, the building is easy to access and clear signage. I got speaking to the gentleman on reception and he was very insightful and encouraged me to have a look around, unfortunately I didn’t catch his name, but he told me about the great hall and even though I have been there once before I totally missed it and I have no idea how!
The great hall… what a hidden Gem for seats for around 300 people this is a magnificent room that honestly helps you take a step back in time, it’s an almost magical setting with the beautiful clock in the middle that made it seem as if time stood still, As I was exploring, I did not fully go in as I didn’t want to distract anyone working and it seemed a little busy.
After my journey, I just jumped on the tram home, what a lovely evening for Monday after all.
Thank you and what a pleasure.

I have passed this impressive building many times but recently decided to call in to view the interior. It looks older than it is (completed 1934) and is modelled on a Roman Pantheon. The circular shape only adds to the feel of the building and you can actually walk round 360 degrees on the 4th Floor. The Book collection is impressive, with a clear focus on Manchester and a substantial collection on Music. There is a modern set of lifts to all of the four main floors and they have made significant investments to allow modern access to the archives, particularly the moving picture section. There is also a decent cafe on the ground floor and a small shop to round things off.

I wish I lived here so that I could use this beautiful library on a regular basis! Worth a quick look round especially the central reading room and the exit lobby area (ceiling and window). A real sense of space.
