A wine enthusiasts "must see".

The oldest barrel of wine in existence? A decent little wine shop selling wines from across France? A lovely little historical side note? This has all of these things. Some... read more

The oldest barrel of wine in existence? A decent little wine shop selling wines from across France? A lovely little historical side note? This has all of these things. Some reviews say it was hard to find - if it is, then I got very lucky. Off the tram at Port d'Hopital, wander right through the main gates, and follow... More

In the grounds of the hospital is a wine cellar storing the oldest wine barrel in the world. The visit is free, or you can pay €3 for headphones to enable you to hear more about the history

History in the hospital. Beautiful wine cellar with old 15th century barrels that still contain wine. Some of their white local wines are quite good and for sale. Will go back there this year

The cellar is hidden down a stairway in the grounds of the hospital, but then you enter an interesting world of wine, old barrels and wine making equipment. Entry is free and there is audio equipment available for 3 euros to take you on your tour. Unfortunately there was no wine tasting during our visit, but the volunteers in the... More

After an unexpected driving detour from Paris to Nancy to Strasbourg my daughter got online and looked for interesting places in the area. Aside from the Alsace wines and the beautiful cobbled streets, and the great cafes this old piece of medicinal history was quite charming. And you can buy wine! There are volunteers to help you choose wine and... More

A gem of unique history in Strasbourg. Even in medieval times, the price of health care was a challenge! But lucky for us, you could pay in wine or land, and the hospital cellar still stores the oldest wine in the world from 1472. This is a small cellar where an audio tour includes only 11 stops, but every one... More

This place is not on the top things to do in Strasbourg list but it should be. The cellar holds the world's oldest white wine (dating to 1472!!!) and has some interesting wine barrels and other things to see and this was a great find. They also have a lovely wine store.

I'm a wine buff, so found this very interesting. Even if you're not into wine it would still be worth a look. It has the oldest wine in the world here and only takes 20 mins or so to go around and have a look. You can also buy so great wines from the shop after having a look around... More

Interesting vine cellar with the oldest drinkable wine in a cask. It is also possible to buy different wines from their store.

We went along with friends and booked a tour guide to show us around The tour was very very good - the whole thing was about two hours but it went very quickly because it was so enjoyable There is wine tasting along the way and the vaults were very interesting It's well worth a visit and there is a...
