The history of Strasbourg was laid-out clearly in this museum; it is an audio-visual experience - one is equipped with a headphones and an audioguide that automatically senses where one is in the museum and plays the appropriate description. There is an option to press a button (on the audioguide) to hear more about particular exhibits. This method brings the... More

Very interesting and in particular for 2016 the exhibition of paper toy soldiers. The Strasbourg story is very interesting especially because Alsace and Lorraine passed between France and Germany during the time.

This can be done very easily in one hour, but I suggest taking your time and listen to as many audio "stations" as possible. Strasbourg has a wonderful history that includes many oh the inventions and customs that are used world wide today. Plus to fully understand how this town has become a mixture of French and German culture, a... More

This is a good museum to learn about the very interesting history of Strasbourg. There are plenty of things to look at and read, and one could easily spend a couple of hours there. Though I enjoyed the automatic audio guide, I was sometimes a little confused by the layout of the museum and wasn't sure which direction I should... More

I have a good memory of this museum with a self-guided tour and all. Strasbourg' history is complex and this museum has a good overview.

This museum displays the history of Strasbourg in an engaging way, taking the visitor on a chronological journey. The audio guide, which is included in the admission price, contains interesting descriptions of major events coordinating with the items on display.

The city history museum itself is excellent. It has interesting, up to date exhibits and, on a day in which the city was crawling with tourists, was strangely deserted. This makes it all the more strange that one of the two ladies working the ticket desk decided to tell my children to be quiet when they were talking (not shouting)... More

This museum provides a great history of the challenges of Strasbourg's location on the German/French border.

The trend to walk towards the right side leads tourists towards the historic center to the Cathedral. However, orienting to the left, you might have a look at the left side, you will see the great location and the architecture along the river and choose to have a drink there in order to meet friends of a long lasting history.

I went to visit the museum an hour before closing and the friendly staff there recommended that I would need at least 2 hours, so instead I returned the next day. How right they were, I spent 4 hours here! The free audible guide took me through every stage of Strasbourg history with info and enacted dialogues that really brought... More
