Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Also this square was occupated by a Crhistmas market of Strasbourg. Unfortunately, the Christmas market closes sharply at 8pm, so we couldn't enjoy much. Due to the Christmas market, it was almost impossible, to admire the architecture and monuments on the square.

One of the central squares in the city center. Surrounded by a mix of historical and modern buildings, it is an important meeting point during the Christmas market. This is where the large Christmas tree stands, with music and light shows.

The city's main square, Place Kléber is like the city center, that is to say adrift. Lots of tramps and beggars or other pests to bother you. Not sure in the evening. Stores closed due to lack of customers. Too bad for a beautiful tourist town.

In March we chose a very central (and not cheap) hotel on Place de Klebèr. The wonderful Christmas market takes place there in December, which we unfortunately didn't get to experience in March. The Homme de Fer stop is also around the corner. It seemed to us that the homeless problem was at its most extreme in this area. We would choose a different area next time we visit!

We were in Strasbourg in December for the Christmas Markets(they had 11!). Strasbourg was our favorite city for Christmas Markets and Place Kleber was our favorite market. There is a huge Christmas tree that can be seen from all over, lots of food booths and really nice gift booths. It is close to an indoor mall and shops on the streets adjacent to the Place.

Beautiful square, entitled to and with a statue of Jean-Baptiste Kléber, a French military leader of the French Revolutionary Wars. On the square you cannot miss "L'Aubette", a historical building from the XVIII Century now hosting a shopping centre. Further to that, my attention was attracted by beautiful, typical houses.

Place Kléber is probably the most famous square in Strasbourg. It represents one of the hearts of the city, just like Notre Dame Cathedral. The square takes its name from the Strasbourg general Jean-Baptiste Kléber, who distinguished himself during the French Revolutionary Wars. A statue with his image proudly sits in the centre of the square, with a vault containing his ashes underneath.

The largest square at the center of the city of Strasbourg. In the square is a statue of general Kléber, under which is a vault containing his remains.
Most of the luxury brands have opened their shops in this prestigious and historical area of the city. Home to the apple store and galeries lafayette dept store.
The first name of Place Kléber was Barfüsserplatz ('square of the barefoot nuns' in German: square of the bare-feet-goers because a Franciscan monastery was standing along the square). In the 17th century the name changed to Waffenplatz ('arms square' in German). On 24 June 1840 the square was finally renamed for the French general Jean-Baptiste Kléber. During German occupation in 1940-1944, the place was renamed after Karl Roos, a local ethnically German politician executed by French authorities in 1940 on the charges of espionage for Germany.
Traditionally, a huge fir tree (30 m) coming from the Vosges mountains is erected every year on the south west of the Place Kléber and inhabitants deposited gifts for the poors. During the Christmas market, the booths of 50 charitable associations make the Village du Partage (village for sharing).
Cafes, Shopping, Views, beautiful architecture and Christmas markets are what you will find in this historical square.
