I've been to Bordeaux many times. I've NEVER managed to walk in the square because there's always something (usually closed) camped there. This time it was an antiques market (closed), last time it was a circus (closed). Some say it's the biggest square in Europe,...More

If you're tired of walking, rest by the intricate fountain with an authentic canelé bordelais (cinnamon rum pastry).

Walk by this terminus of tram and bus to see a wildly elaborate statue of lady liberty throwing off her chains. There is also a year round flea market of antiques and various stuff, along with food boothes, set up adjacent to it.

My friend dragged me to this place so she can see the fountain and I'm glad she did. I had forgotten how beautiful it was. We took many photographs naturally. Also admire the trees that covered the tram/bus station. A lovely place to walk around.

When we visited the Esplanade, the “Pleasure Fair” was setup in Place des Quinconces. The fair was here from February 23 to March 25, 2018. It provides a fabulous bit of color and a great nighttime atmosphere. A great place to spend some time when...More

A funfair was set up when we visited - offering lots to do. There were also some fine food stalls which meant we had dinner while we strolled one evening.

Because of the position of the threes, quinconce means "IN STAGGERED ROWS" like roman soldiers, this place has a special attraction, especially in summer when you hear the fountain of the Girondins. Sometimes there is nobody on this huge place and sometimes is crowded dor...More

I went here at night time (wasn't planned to go here), but it was a beautiful historic place to see (even at night time).

We visited the monument at night and again in the daytime. The wonderful fountain with the column and figure on top representing, I believe, Liberty. It was very impressive and we were surprised that there was no write-up about it in the Michelin Green Guide.

This is a very large expanse of a square that sits opposite the river and one which is quite empty apart from the sculptures and the column which sits at its head
