We visited Darwin on our Bordeaux Bike Experience tour. Apparently it's the largest indoor skate park in Europe, and as you might expect it's a kiddie/teen paradise. The giant metal warehouse with obligatory 'street art' is located within an ex-military barracks on the East bank of the Garonne. The entrepreneur owner is slowly renovating these stone buildings and in due course the place with become attractive to a broader demographic. The cafe/restaurant is well worth a visit, but as with many places in Bordeaux, all the tables were reserved for lunch - book early to avoid disappointment! There is a self-service seating area next door to which you can carry your coffee/tea.

Very cool looking place, with some amazing street art and a huge skatepark. Some nice restaurants/cafes.
I was a bit disappointed as i thought this would be a more alternative place, but it was just full of young families with small children.

Now this may be the coolest spot in town. I'd visit it for the outdoor street art only. Great Graffiti photo ops all around. But that's just it. You can also bring your skateboard or skates for some cool loops in the indoor skatepark. Or just play the vintage pinball machines. There's the trendy somewhat urban chique (so overpriced) resto and supermarket. But if you look hard enough you find a hidden hall with second hand clothing and furniture. A great urban project with lots of potential. I love it.

..the walk along the river to get there. Almost everything else was a huge let down, always happy to see old buildings reclaimed, refurbished and repurposed and this was no exception, but to what purpose? Large store, offering organic 'gourmet' foodstuffs. All horrendously overpriced, of course. I'm sure much appreciated by vegans, gluten frees etc, there is a large restaurant, very rustic in decor and actually quite appealing looking, but difficult to understand what exactly was going on, no menu displayed etc. I think the largest completely vegetarian restaurant in France, or something like that. The much hyped graffiti display was a let down. Not much else going on. This is a pretty unique space and could/ should be put to better use. Until then, I'd spend my time somewhere else. Oh....the bathrooms are disgusting.

We went last weekend with friends to celebrate my husbands birthday. We've been before to enjoy a coffee or drink but was the first time we tried the brunch.

We arrived at 2pm with reservation and when we went to the buffet to try to get food, was almost to none left!!

We had to wait for more than 20 minutes before someone came to refill and we had to hurry up otherwise the little bowls were empty again after 5 minutes. The menu is very mediocre and with no taste ... Even the simple salad bar was tasteless!

The restaurant capacity is enormous but the restaurant manager doesn't seem to realize as their buffet bar is tiny compared to all the people... Which makes the experience terrible.

It's a shame as the decoration is unique and and locals seem to love it but for me is just a place to visit one time but not to waste 24 euros for a terrible, empty, tasteless brunch.

On the right bank of the Garonne, there’s a Darwin centre – renovated army barracks that now serve not only as skatepark but also as a place for cultural events, leisure. There’s also a restaurant onsite.

Interesting part of Bordeaux on the other bank. Excellent, funky, large restaurant serving really good food. We went for brunch and had a great time. Apparently it's a lot of fun in the evenings with live music.

Love this place! Lots of great graffiti, extreme sports people and good vibes. There's also a restaurant there. We didnt eat there but food sure looks great. Great for families or anyone who love to explore and to see what the locals are up to in bordueax. I love this place also because it is not very touristy.

I visited the Hangar Darwin specifically to see the old cars that gather there on the first Sunday of the month. They used to gather near Quinconces but their numbers have grown and they now congregate here. It was an old factory but it now seems to be an urban art project with a restaurant/bar there called Magasin General. There is also a skate board park and a concert venue amongst other things in the various building. I did pop into the bar to get a drink but it all looked a bit manic in there and I couldn't actually see a serving point. The place is a pleasant 15 minute stroll along the river bank from Stalingrad tram stop although there were plenty of joggers and cyclists sharing the paths when I went.
