About

Excellent way to enjoy a few hours inside on a very cold windy April day. We enjoyed all of the displays, particularly all of the different tropical fish displays. The explanations were posted in French and English (and other languages too), and we were free to wander through the exhibits at our own pace. It was very wheelchair friendly and we had no barriers and no need to ask for help along the way. The displays were interesting and there was an amazing assortment of species from around the world and all climates.

The aquarium is worth visiting if you are in Biarritz.
The aquarium is built into a hill side, and it gives a very natural feeling when you are in the building.
There are different levels for each exhibitions, and the sea lion feeding is on the top.
The aquarium is high class exhibition - the turtle part is amazing, the shark tank and ray tank are trully mesmerising.
The middle of the building is filled with skeletons and real life size animals - very visual.
The explorer part, the whale hunting exhibition are really informative, the ship models are very precise and detailed.
It is a great program on a rainy day - but even if it is sunny, well worth visitning.
Recommended for everyone, from early ages.

The aquarium is quite famous in Europe so the expectations were high. All considered the expositions are good. The whaling and fishery history exposition at the 2* floor is very interesting and the main tank (the one with the sharks and eagle rays) is nice, although a little overcrowded considering the volume is not huge. Some fish had some skeletal anomalies but is pretty normal for big animals in exposition-oriented rather than animal welfare-oriented structures. However I give it a 2 because of the overcrowding of people. It seemed there is no control at all of the number of people entering the aquarium, resulting in the impossibility of maintaining the safety distance. Full of kids without mask (not deterring to newborns) running around, climbing the benches and rolling on the ground. 2 hours in the aquarium and we didn’t see a single staff member around enforcing the regulations. Never again, at least until Covid is gone.

Located in a stunning building perched on the clifftop. €15 entry per head which is fair. Smaller than expected tanks of marine life but nice display, amazing selection, beautiful colours. Seals were super cute - those dark eyes! The final display with the sharks, groupers & barracudas et al was beautiful. Only downside is that the acoustics are awful so noise bounces off all the surfaces...

Very worth the visit , lots of nice opportunities to view the sea life in under water glass tunnels and caves. There is also a splendid exhibition of the mammals skeletons arranged in size. The only down side is that all the information given is in French so all the cinema experiences were only fun to watch not to listen too. It seems like they are not expecting foreign visitors.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the aquarium this afternoon; there’s plenty to see and enjoy, the space is clean and explanations are clear and educative. Something to be aware of is that there’s no parking on the premises so you’ll have to walk to the aquarium, the closest spot we could find was a few hundred metres away. This place is well worth a visit - excellent.

People might say France is known for its hospitality, but unfortunately this hospitality is obviously only meant for French people.

All throughout France, information can rarely be found in any other language than French, no matter how many non French speaking tourists come and spend their money there.

All of the undoubtedly interesting information (at least we think so, because everything in the aquarium and the museum looks very nice and very well taken care of) is exclusively displayed in French and all the people from other countries can go to hell.

Come on people, this is 2015!

How much trouble could it be to at least translate the information to English? That way 99 percent of your foreign visitors will have so much more joy from visiting your beautiful country and spending their money on your economy.

We went to visit the aquarium during our visit to Biarritz and really enjoyed the visit. It took us about two hours to explore. The only negative was there was no English writing and we had to translate but that should be expected when in France. Highly recommend a visit to waste a few hours when strolling around Biarritz.

This place was firmly on my list of places to visit during my holiday in Biarritz. It cost €13 for entrance, completely worth it! Many different floors, organised into what kind of sea life lives there. Amazing full length skeleton of a whale, swimming alongside some dolphins. The roof terrace is fantastic, with the terrific view and the really cute seal pool. Of all the aquariums I've been to, the seals here are definitely the friendliest- they swim right up to the submerged windows, and come and have a nosey on the roof terrace. They must be very well looked after! The shark tank was great, could have spent hours sitting in the tunnel or in front of one of the many large windows! It wasn't overly busy- probably because it was October, not really tourist season. The lifts were a little confusing, there are more than one and it is easy to forget which one/ which floor you are on, it would probably be easier to navigate the aquarium by the stairs, but we had my friend's elderly Grandmother with us, and her young niece- asleep in her pram the entire time! She would have been thrilled if only she'd been awake! The panorama of the atlantic ocean and the bay on the roof terrace is worth ten times the entrance fee alone, never mind all the thrilling things inside!! The only downside is the gift shop- I had hoped to bring home some cute little souvenirs for some younger family members, but it is incredibly expensive, very limited in choice! It confused me somewhat that it was selling local designer leather bags- priced at over €1000 each!- as most visitors would not come for the 'exclusive shopping experience' . I wanted a car keyring, not something a bag that cost as much as my car! However, this is but a minor, puzzling detail. Altogether, the experience was AMAZING. I urge any holidaymakers in Biarritz to plan a visit!
