We enjoyed very much walking about the historic center of Rennes. There are several charming squares to sit down and have a coffee or a beer, and the beautiful and colorful half-timbered houses are delightful to look at.

The old section of Rennes, near the Parliament, contains many of the marvelous (albeit not always completely vertical) old, half-timbered houses (“pans de bois”) dating from the 1600’s.

Compact, cozy and easy to walk around in. The narrow street and old houses really make for an interesting visit. And don't forget the stunning cathedral
