We took the opportunity to pay a visit to Saint-Malo during our holiday in Bretagne. All was perfect: ocean view over the city walls, medieval city with the ancient buildings and tiny streets, food, harbor, you name it.

This is the house of a wealthy shipping merchant of the 18th century within the old city walls at Saint-Malo. Our guide gave a lucid, interesting explanation (in French) of shipping in that era and how it contributed to the building of the city.

if you want to take pleasure of the presentation of the history of corsairs of saint Malo by a comedian (mr de la Riviere ) than go. How you can spend 5.5 euros and half an hour. Ask mr de la Riviere to finish his presentation if you were not present at the biggening(it’s an obligation).

Interesting guided tour by the lady who, with her husband, privately own this property. Two parts in the visit. First the ground floor with two salons where she explained at length who the "corsaires" were, what they did accredited by the King as they were not pirates, what they imported or exported officially and also unofficially. The second part of... More

Fine if you speak a lot more than school boy french as no doubt the guide provided a witty and lengthy repartee. All last on me. A written guided tour would have been just as easy. Not much to see otherwise as hardly any furniture in the few rooms open.

This is a delightful home which is steeped in the sea lore history of Saint Malo. Outstanding decor and period furnishings in a town house / mini Chateau from the days of the fishermen, raiders, Pirates and traders of little St. Malo... Enjoy...

We attended a private function (wedding party) in this most unusual and spectacular place. Beautiful courtyard and lovely reception rooms on main floor. Each level tells a different story. Down one, beautiful stone walled rooms, perfect for a delicious dinner for many guests. Slit windows towards the ceilings, and full French doors to stairs back up to front and back... More

For 5-6 Euros for an adult, this offers an hour's guided tour of a major corsaire's house. The rooms in the upper floors are for the hotel and as the original owner built this house for business purposes this is the focus of the tour. It therefore serves as a good introduction to st malo's history. The guide was very informative,... More

We learnt a great deal about the corsaire ships. The guide was very knowledgeable and narrated the story of the house in an entertaining manner. (great for children as well) We did the tour in French, don't know if they do the tour in English as well.

We visited here on an included tour from our Grand Circle trip -- our guide -- a local now, but from Wales originally -- was AWESOME. What insight into the history of these not-quite pirates. There were some really nice painting available for sale -- but one needed CASH --no credit cards accepted. Not many of us had 1000+ euros... More
